The #Monomad challenge: "Finding Depth and Contrast in Black-and-White Photography"

(Edited)

Earlier today, I saw a post announcing it would be the user’s last on this platform because they were quitting due to issues with Hive. Interestingly, just the other day, another user who had previously bid farewell to the platform returned to make a post. These two individuals are not the same person, and I don’t intend to compare them, but I find it fascinating how Hive has this dual effect—it can push some people away while also drawing others back.

Some argue that this platform isn’t for everyone, which is something I still don’t fully understand. In my view, Hive caters to everyone since there are no significant restrictions, and most activities here are free. There’s no barrier to entry, and even with the most intensive engagement, users don’t face financial losses.

This is why I have great respect for those who consistently maintain their activity on the platform, especially during challenging times. One initiative I admire is the #Monomad photography challenge, which calls users to participate in the Black-and-White Photography community. They've been here on the platform for many years and actively curating for this community. Their dedication to motivating the photographers has been consistent through bear and bull season.

That's one reason I like contributing to the Black-and-White community, specifically to the #monomad challenge.

So, among the many types of photography, black-and-white is probably the one I’m most fascinated by. It has the unique ability to transform a dull photo into something captivating. In some cases, photos that initially didn’t meet my expectations exceeded them once I converted them to black-and-white.

For this #monomad entry, I selected photos that I felt would look better in black-and-white rather than being edited in color. The results are quite fascinating, and some turned out particularly striking due to the dark contrasts, which help highlight the subjects in the foreground.

In conclusion, exploring black-and-white photography has been a rewarding experience, allowing me to see the unique beauty and depth it can bring to ordinary scenes. Through this #monomad entry, I’ve learned to appreciate how contrast and simplicity can create powerful visual narratives. Thank you for taking the time to view my work; I hope it inspires you to see the art in monochrome photography as well!

You’re right about that. In fact I don’t know any platform that values the users better than Hive.

Thanks for your comment 👍
