The beauty and difficulty of being a freelancer

Since I quit my corporate job, I turned to freelance so I could have an income. To be honest, I didn't know what the outcome of my life would be since I became a freelancer. I can say that I didn't really think about my life before I left my job. I was burned out from my previous job so that was the basis of why I quit. Being a freelancer worked well with me during the years of the pandemic so I was able to enjoy life during those times. I think I made a good decision back then.

A few years later and the pandemic is no longer an issue, my situation has also changed. Finding jobs is not as easy as it used to be. Right now I'm thinking of going back to my old job. It's good that I got along well with my old Boss and it looks like they will allow me to return to my old job. If my previous company gets their project this March, they will send me back to work again. So for now I'm doing freelance jobs while waiting for news from them.

If I had to choose I would prefer to be a freelancer. This is because I can choose my own working hours. I think my lifestyle is also more frugal since becoming a freelancer. This is because I don't need to shop for formal clothes because I just work inside my house. I don't even have to spend on the fare. My food is more economical because I don't have to eat at expensive restaurants when my office is in the city. I'm also far away from shopping malls because I'm only at my house most of the time. Actually, there are many advantages to being a freelancer.

However, being a freelancer also has its disadvantages. One of them is inconsistent income. This is probably the hardest part of being a freelancer especially if you have experienced working for a company that pays you on a monthly basis.

Another disadvantage of being a freelancer is finding work. Now, I'm the one who needs to find clients who will give me work unlike before when work just came to me. This is probably another difficult part of being a freelancer, it's not easy to find clients. Especially when they don't know you yet and you haven't proven anything to them yet.

During the times of the pandemic, I had a company I was helping when it came to social media marketing. In those days social media was a way for a company to have customers. Since most people are in their houses, many people order the products of the company that I help. But since the times have changed and the effect of the pandemic is gone, the company's income has also weakened. Because of that, my service was no longer needed. That's when my struggles started as well.

My solution is to reduce my expenses to a minimum. I also had to move to a smaller apartment to reduce the cost of my rent. My goal is to cut down as much burn as I can until my income is stable again. Of course, the adjustment is not easy but this is the only way I see to survive every day. So I also removed my luxuries like my Netflix and Spotify subscriptions. I also reduced my internet subscription to a minimum. I removed the things that I don't really need in my life.

Since I reduced my expenses the income has been enough to cover my lifestyle. Right now my lifestyle is frugal but that doesn't mean I'll be like this forever. I still have dreams in life that I want to fulfill. One of them is having my own business that will give me passive income. I also want to have investments that will also give me passive income. These are the things I want to accomplish in 5 years. So now I have to go back to my old job to save money again that I can use for my future business and investments.

Another reason is that I don't want to reduce my few crypto assets, especially since it's still in a bear market. Honestly, this is the worst time to cash out because I will be wasting potential gains in the future unlike when I just hold my crypto assets. At this point, the best thing to do is just hold onto my crypto to grow. It's not wise to sell anything right now, especially since the crypto prices are just starting to get better.

And because of that, I'd rather go back to my old job until such time that I have enough savings to fulfill my dreams in life. As I said I have 5 years to save money. Within that period I will also do my best to grow my crypto assets.

That's what I've been thinking about these past few days. I hope all of us will be successful in achieving our goals in life. All the best!
