Snapping Into Hive: Exploring the Fun and Rewards of PeakD's Short-Form Content
I've been spending quite a lot of time in #snaps lately. I think the majority of my Hive activities over the past month have been focused on interacting with other users there, lol. It's just so much fun to hang out for several reasons. But before I share those reasons, let me reintroduce Snaps to you, the wonderful people of Hive.
Snaps
Snaps is PeakD's short-form content app on Hive, working similarly to Threads and Waves. It is integrated into the PeakD frontend while also allowing cross-platform posting to inLeo's Threads, Ecency's Waves, and LikeTu's Moments. Additionally, it offers an option to view all short-form content on Hive through one of Snaps' feeds.
Although short-form apps have been available on Hive for quite some time, the PeakD team has introduced innovative design elements in their interface. They’ve also developed a creative and resourceful approach to rewarding engagement on the Snaps platform. I’ll elaborate on this later in my post, but for now, let me share what I usually do on the Snaps platform.
Simple Life happenings
Like every other user of #snaps, I post quick, short updates about whatever is on my mind at the moment. That’s the beauty of a short-form content app—there are no strict rules about what you can post. Most of my Snaps are thoughts or photos that I feel aren’t substantial enough for a full post but are still worth sharing, in my opinion.
The main reason I participate in Snaps is the great interaction I experience there. It's fast-paced and almost feels like a chat room because of the quick responses I get from other users.
Polls
That’s also why I love using Snaps' Polls! While long-form blogs can also include polls, I feel that using them in short-form content doesn’t require lengthy explanations. Creating a poll in Snaps is as simple as writing a question and adding the choices. Surprisingly, I’ve been receiving valuable feedback, which helps me gather others' opinions on various topics.
Mini Contests
One aspect of Hive that I really appreciate is the initiative shown by community members. Over the past month, I’ve noticed that we, as Hive users, often create mini-games to keep ourselves entertained and engaged with one another. Some Snap users have organized games, quizzes, and even contests. I’ve joined many of the games I’ve come across, and I think it’s a fantastic way to make the experience even more enjoyable.
Rewards!
We have a truly unique platform! A social network with a reward system is definitely a motivating factor that makes the time we spend here worthwhile. There are plenty of ways to earn Hive and HBD tokens just by doing what we already do on any other social network.
As I mentioned earlier in this post, PeakD's Snaps has introduced a creative and resourceful way of adding an extra layer of rewards. This system recognizes and rewards the meaningful interactions a Snap user receives on their posts.
The Peak.Snaps container post is designed to accumulate rewards and distribute 99% of the total payout as liquid Hive and HBD to Snaps users, based on the engagement level of their posts.
In essence, if one of your snaps or posts generates high-quality interactions, you’ll receive a larger share of the container post’s payout. The additional reward or tip is delivered through the CommentRewarder service. By participating in Snaps daily, you increase your chances of receiving rewards delivered directly to your wallet each day.
Are you aware that your post has been hidden (at least in my following feed on PeakD)?
@asgarth, I wonder if this is intentional, or maybe because Snaps is following a blacklist?
I realized that if we post in Snaps Community... it looks like it will appear hidden.
So it means that Snaps Community page is only meant for the Peak.Snaps container post.
Ah, I see. I'm not sure if that's a good thing, or not.
Hmm, not good that my post is hidden. Somehow, it's good that I learned something interesting today :D

@asgarth #feedback, clicking the above link takes the user to the main post, not directly to the comment (using android PWA). Anyone clicking the link may well not find the comment to which i have linked, which is why i edited to add screenshot of the comment, but screenshot not viewable - muted!
I can change that if you think it would be good to do so. Open to feedback 😉
Well, i think users may well make a Snap in the Snaps Community, as @curamax did, not realising the their Snap will be partially hidden. So i think it would be good to change. Thanks for response btw.
Actually, the reason that I post in C/Snaps is that I got a bit confused on which community to post 😅. Then I remember that I subscribed to C/Snaps some time ago and thought it would be nice to have the other subscribers to share their comment about my post and probably have a discussion.
Interesting to see other spaces with short content interactions. Thank you for sharing!
Yes. I observe that every short-form content platform here in Hive have a specific topic to talk about and Snaps feels like the one that has a more variety.
Feel free to post some of your short-form content too. Cheers
🙏 thank you. I’ll try.
😊👍
It's actually good. I started looking at it after you shared my post on snap. Thank you for exposing me on snap.
It's one of the good features of Snaps. Designed to share or promote posts. I use it for my post and also to share other's post too.
There are active curators there that seem to upvote some of the posts I share.
Manually unmuted the post.
The issue was because in the "Snaps" community only members can post. But everyone can comment.
Thanks man! Sorry for the trouble.
I thought it was a regular community.
The short-form content is more engaging! It's easier to consume as a reader and doesn't require as much of a time-investment to write either!
Totally agree with you.
And if I may add, many of the users also give off such good vibes too.
Yesss this is true! Right away it feels just as good as tweeting with mutuals. There's very few that seem to be Snapping just to snap 😂 but most are engaging!
Couldn’t agree more. I myself is focusing more on commenting to snaps but I still try to post my snap at least 2-3 times a day 😅
Greetings @curamax ,
All so true, A really excellent introduction To Snaps. Well done!
Short form at its finest!
Kind Regards,
Bleujay
Dear @bleujay thanks for the feedback. It's indeed so fine, I use it everyday.
One of best app development in Hive ecosystem in my opinion.
Snaps are very fascinating. I've done it a couple of times.
I’m doing it almost everyday :) I find many of the posts are interesting and informative as well.
Feel free to share some of your short-form content too 👍

Greetings friend, interesting this information of the short contents in Peakd, I have not yet put the first, I'll see if I started to write there.
It's time I get active on Snaps, I have a load of
snapsimages that I wanted to use in a post, but I can't say enough about it to warrant a blog;)That’s great! That’s the beauty of it. Anything can be shared over there. See you! 😁

Hi @curamax!
Have you seen our website?
It's a great resource to check your Hive SBI levels, along with your history of who has sponsored you and what upvotes we have provided you!
I logged in to see your profile and I came across this about snaps and I honestly like it a lot. I believe that the fundamental factor to maintain the creators' regularity is tips. And something that I would like to exist is the possibility of improving our images, as liketu has. Always in pursuit of having an ecosystem where the quality of our content prevails.
A hug @curamax.
