How to Discover Posts that Match Your Interests with the Hive-Hound App

🚨 New App Alert 🚨

I recently came across a post by @solominer about a new app called Hive-Hound, also known as HiFind, developed by @sagarkothari88. The app aggregates posts based on your preferences and enhances the user experience for viewers and curators. It is not to replace frontends such as PeakD, Ecency, inLeo, or Hive.Blog, instead Hive-Hound is designed to improve content discovery by allowing users/curators to filter posts by criteria like word count, time, reward, tag, and more.

I believe this app is particularly useful for users who value efficiency in finding content across the platform. Hive-Hound searches trending, hot, and newly created posts, either individually or collectively. Let me show you the functions currently available.

Opening the link will take you to a webpage where you can view posts aggregated based on your preferences, similar to the trending page. This is the starting point of the app.

To refine your selection, you can add filters to match your preferences.

On the right side of the page, you will notice 8 different types of filters: feed type, tag, community name, time, vote count, value, word count, and image count.

Let me show you an example of how I use the Hive-Hound app by utilizing each of the available filters. Note: For this example, we will exclude "Tag" and "Community Name" due to technical issues. We will focus on feed type, time, vote count, value, word count, and image count.

Feed Type

Let's begin with the Feed Type. There are 3 criteria for it, namely: Trending, Hot, & Created. For this example, we will focus on the newly Created posts.

Action: Select "created" and then click "Apply" button.

It shows all content that are just posted at the moment. It's a mixture of several content types. Let's narrow filter it further to narrow down the selection of posts.

Time

This feature allows you to filter content based on the time the post was created. Some curators prefer to upvote content within 5 minutes, 15 minutes, or even 30 minutes of its creation.

Action: Type in "select the preferred time frame" and then click the "Apply" button.

I chose 15 minutes and it seems that there are 15 posts created within that period.

Vote Count

It allows you to find posts based on their current vote count. Some curators prefer to upvote posts with higher vote counts, as these are often considered more valuable, while others choose to support posts with fewer votes to help them gain the recognition they deserve. For this example, I selected posts with at least 10 votes.

Post Value

This feature allows you to filter posts based on their value range. Just like with vote count, curators have different preferences for this criterion. For this example, I selected posts with a value of 1 HBD.

Word Count

This is an important feature that I believe is particularly helpful for community curators, as many communities have strict guidelines regarding the word count of content posted on their pages. This filter simplifies finding posts that meet these community guidelines. For this example, I chose 200 words.

Images Count

Some curators don’t mind supporting posts with fewer images, while others prefer visually rich content. This filter lets you find posts based on your preference for the number of images included. For this example, I selected 10 images.

That’s it! I’ve narrowed down the selection to 2 remaining posts.

One is about Splinterlands, while the other is an Actifit report. For this example, I chose the post featuring nice nature photography. When you click on it, a pop-up window will appear with all the necessary information you need to review before moving on to the next step.

Essentially, you’ll want to support the post that meets all the criteria mentioned here, as this reflects the author’s behavior on the platform. Green checks indicate strong support for the author.

Clicking the "View Post" button will take you to the specific frontend of your choice. You can select the frontend from the tabs provided for each available option.

image.png

From here, you can engage with the post in whatever way you prefer or according to your usual practices. That’s how you can use this new app to enhance your curation experience on the Hive platform. Feel free to experiment with the filters until you find a setup that aligns with your curation style.

Have a great weekend, Hive-Hounders!

Time for me to start digging. I find it notoriously hard to find content that interests me, and I lose patience scrolling through everything, to be honest.

!INDEED We're not even at the peak of activity on the platform yet. I really enjoyed experimenting with the filters and seeing what kinds of posts would appear. 😅

It seems that there are still bugs. Well, we should expect it from newly released app. But I'm looking forward to use this!

That's right, there’s still room for improvement. Fortunately, the devs are very responsive. Feel free to share any issues you come across, and I'll do my best to relay them to the team to see if they can help. Thanks! :)

I used some tags that has a content for sure but it doesn't appear on the app.

However, its usefulness is tremendous and there is no doubt about it. But you can do the same on the @Ecency's app with less features. And who knows, Ecency may be working on improving these filters. The main thing is that a separate app for each feature can make this fun hive journey irritating.
Instead, I would go to @Ecency discord and request these and any other features so that all Hive related activities can be done on a single app comfortably. 😊

Don't mind, I just have shared my real reaction! 🙏🏼

No worries at all, I appreciate your honest reaction and completely agree; having everything in one place would definitely make the Hive experience more seamless! 😊

I would be thrilled to see these features integrated into Ecency as well 🙏
