Hive Fest Split: Key Insights and Exciting Developments from Day 1

(Edited)

As you may already know, the most important event in the Hive ecosystem, Hive Fest, took place in Split (Croatia)! Although I didn’t have the chance to attend, I was able to catch a glimpse of the event; especially the presentations, through the video recordings posted on the Hive Fest YouTube channel. I’ve completed watching the Day 1 presentations and am excited to share the key points I gathered, along with my insights. Over the past two days, I thoroughly watched the recorded livestream from Day 1, and it’s thrilling to learn about the recent, current, and upcoming developments within the ecosystem. I highly recommend everyone watch the presentations to understand the overall direction of our ecosystem in the coming months and years. The timing of this event couldn’t have been better; learning about these exciting developments, especially in the current market conditions, is inspiring and motivating. I hope that everyone feels the same way after watching the videos.

There were many presentations on Day 1, so I plan to cover them in multiple posts. For now, I’d like to focus on the Developer Panel discussion, which included Blocktrades, Howo, GTG, and Arcange, with Detlev as the moderator.

I also want to highlight when Arcange awarded the Hive-Five trophy to MyNewLife, CrimsonClad, Rmach, "Logic"? (sorry, I didn’t capture the full username), and "Percy"? (again, I apologize if I didn’t hear the name clearly).

Additionally, a dog named Yuka was recognized for attending five Hive Fests, which was both humorous and amazing! It’s fantastic to see Hivers being honored for their dedication to attending these global events.

Moving on to the Developer Panel discussions, the key points included:

  • Hive Blockchain scalability
  • Advancements to Hive Communities
  • HAF Project
  • Improvements to Core Software
  • Light Accounts

These developments are crucial for unlocking Hive’s true potential in onboarding and mass adoption.

Hive Communities

source

With the current developments in Hive Communities, we will soon have the option to expand Hive’s use-case by incorporating revenue and ad-sharing options. This will allow community owners and members to earn rewards beyond what they receive from the Hive reward pool. I believe this approach mirrors the strategy used by Web2 platforms like Facebook and YouTube to reward their users.

HAF (Hive Application Framework) Project

source

The HAF Project was discussed in the context of improving blockchain scalability. This initiative is likely to attract more developers, particularly dApp developers, to build on the Hive Blockchain. It will enhance the developer experience by making data more accessible and fostering collaborative development. An improvement in Hive’s backend systems now allows API nodes to run without storing the entire block history, saving developers time and effort. The introduction of the HSQL solution will also address high server expenses, promoting a more decentralized system by making it more affordable for developers to run their own APIs.

Light Accounts

source

Light Accounts are designed to simplify the account creation process for new users by eliminating the complexity of managing multiple keys. This feature is particularly useful for users transitioning from Web2 to Web3, as it allows them to interact with dApps with just one key. Light Accounts will integrate smoothly with the Keychain app and are a step towards preparing for upcoming Layer 2 or Smart Contracts solutions. They provide flexibility and ease of use while offering the benefits of true ownership, immutability, potential earnings, and networking within the Hive ecosystem.

In conclusion, Hive Fest Split has truly showcased the dynamic evolution and promising future of the Hive ecosystem. From innovative developments like the HALF Project and Light Accounts to the exciting expansion of Hive Communities, it’s clear that these advancements are setting the stage for increased scalability and broader adoption. Don’t miss out... watch the recordings to fully grasp how these changes will shape the future of Hive!

I've always had this concern that #Hive could include advertising, sponsorships and similar things like other platforms... Very interesting to know that this is something to come!

Excellent this, thanks for sharing!...

Thank you for the mention @curamax

Arcange awarded the Hive-Five trophy

The name of the trophy is "5-Fest(s)", not Hive-Five

"Logic"? (sorry, I didn’t capture the full username)

It's @logic, you heard it correctly

"Percy"? (again, I apologize if I didn’t hear the name clearly).

The last one was @pharesim. He wasn't there in the morning and received his trophy later.
Juka (@jukatravels) will receive his award next year.
