Day 9 of #Zingtober 2024: "Zingu on a Sunny day"

Holo!

I hope you're all having a great time tonight! I just finished my artwork for #Zingtober Fest. I feel great about finishing it earlier than usual, compared to my previous works. I will probably have extra time to take more snaps after I post my entry.

For today’s prompt, 'sun,' I wanted to take a different approach. Unlike my previous entries, this one carries a more somber tone. While my artwork typically conveys a positive, upbeat vibe, this piece leans toward something less cheerful. Here's what I came up with for today.

I remember a while ago, there was a tag called #greta that became popular in inLeo's Threads and eventually turned into a meme. I created some memes about it and participated until it lost popularity and was eventually forgotten. It was a great way to generate buzz in Threads at the time.

I wonder if something similar could happen here in Snap, where someone from the community starts a tag that trends.

The #greta tag came to mind while I was working on my drawing, as the topic relates to global warming and climate change.

When it comes to the creation process of my artwork, I still chose the crosshatching style. I'm starting to get the hang of using lines in various ways to achieve the vision I had before I started working on it.

It helped that I already had a clear idea of what the finished piece would look like, which made my workflow faster. Unlike my previous work, where I had to pause several times to figure out what to do next, this time, my vision was clear, making the process much more efficient.

I explored the idea of the sun melting the ice sheets, leaving Zingu stranded and floating, hence the SOS flag. I thought it would be an interesting element to include in my artwork. I also enjoyed working on the details of the flag and the pole, especially while doing the crosshatching for the drawing.

Overall, this piece allowed me to experiment with new concepts while staying true to my evolving style. It challenged me to think differently, and I'm excited about how it turned out. I'm eager to hear your thoughts and look forward to creating more pieces that push my artistic boundaries.

Nice blend for the sun to be the only one with colour.
