Time to get a headstart: Hive over YouTube

I recently watched an interesting YouTube video by Rob the Maritimer about starting a YouTube channel, explaining why those of us over 40 should consider starting one.

It got me thinking about how we could apply similar principles to Hive. Let's break down some key points and see how they might translate to our platform. I mean if YouTube has its limitation, as in there are only this much people will have time for viewing collectively, it is probably better to invest time in writing posts in Hive as it takes less time to read, and time is more controllable. So I predict there is better ROI if one can get a headstart when prioritizing Hive over YouTube content creation.

Here are some interpretations of that YouTube advice that can be used for Hive:

  1. Define your niche: Just like on YouTube, find your unique angle on Hive. What experiences can you share that others might find valuable?

  2. Consistency is key: The video emphasized regular uploads. On Hive, this translates to consistent posting. Set a schedule you can maintain.

  3. Show your face: While we can't "film" ourselves on Hive, we can still add a personal touch. Use profile pictures, share personal stories, or even include photos in your posts. That is, if you are comfortable doing so, it is not such a big deal in Hive. One just need to get started early and earn the trust from readers. Face or no face, not so important. Start date of the account might be more critical.

  4. Engage with your audience: Respond to comments, just like you would on YouTube. Build relationships within the Hive community by leaving comments. Be seen on INLEO threads!

  5. Start simple: The video suggested starting with just a phone camera. On Hive, this means you don't need fancy writing skills - just start sharing your thoughts authentically.

  6. Focus on value: Create content that helps or entertains your audience, whether it's on YouTube or Hive.

  7. Monetization comes later: The video advised not to focus on monetization immediately. On Hive, while there's potential for rewards, focus first on building your audience and providing value. We get small bits of rewards through the upvotes in 7 days. To me this is great.

  8. Leverage platform features: Just as you'd use YouTube's tools, make use of Hive's features like tags, communities, and different post formats.

If you are already on Hive, it's never too late to start sharing your wisdom and contents more regularly.

But earlier rather than later, since we are moving into the web3 era. Not to mention that you can also share videos on SPK Network, if video is your thing.

I think it's a possible way to do things, but I can't help but think that Youtube is saturated. I don't think you can really make a living off of it unless you get lucky and pop off with how many people are there right now.

Great points brother. Hive does offer unique opportunities for engaging content without the intense competition of YouTube.
