Kinjo Dunks on Yodin (and all blast cards for that matter): Character Guide, 3 Battle Feature, Meta Thoughts, and more!
Can't Touch This: Putting Yodin on Blast
Welcome Splinterlanders to another card strategy post. Today we are talking about the King of Damage Negation, Mr. Untouchable himself, Kinjooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. If you can't tell I am a thorough fan of this card, despite it being incredibly weak offensively, and that is because it is THE card for blast negation in bronze and above. No other card fits the bill. At later levels he becomes even immune to the possibility of blast poison (very rare even at higher tiers. Waka?), the only thing that could take him out at lvl 1.
Strategy and Placement
Place this card after where you expect blast. Usually in position one or towards the back etc. He will NEVER be targeted directly until he is brought to the front or the last creature period. If you use taunt and are expecting blast place him next to THAT creature. There are 4 sample fights below to further display this.
Big Blast? Where?
In the blast ruleset a common strategy is to have a large creature with a lot (or rapid) damage and sustain towards the front and to have them blast everything into oblivion. At 2 mana kinjo rains on their parade as seen here. Where any other 2 cost spacer would've failed miserably.
Full Lineup? Negated: Kinjo vs Numerous Units
Even against numerous units here, kinjo can be formidable at lvl 1, anywhere blast is present. In this lineup the opponent tried to focus the front line and have a tank and secondary tank that would outheal the blast damage. It might've worked too. Too bad kinjo reared he ugly head.
Taunt + Kinjo = Untouchable
In the battle located here my units are untouchable until fatigue sets in (killing living lava much more quickly than shieldbearer) resulting in victory. Even if the enemy had used blast or Yodin (one of the lineups run previous in their last 5 at the time), they would've been met with the same immovable wall.
Kinjo, Untouchable: Can anything stop him?
He can't really be hit but he also does NOTHING else aside from negate blast and act as a buffer. But for 2 mana you could have 2 buffers instead in that scenario. He won't always be the best use for 2 mana. Sometimes a different creature instead of what you put that is 2 mana bigger or a few spacers that apply buffs/debuffs would be more utile. However, when blast is present there isn't anyone better. At later levels he becomes completely unkillable by blast when he is granted immunity.
Lore: Bastard Vampire Offspring/ Vampire Hunters
Lore excerpt from in game is as follows
"Few have heard about the secret mission of the pious order, The Bloody Envoy. These devout monks spend their young lives living within the Hidden Cloister, a monastery that is said to be somewhere within Abbots Marsh on Praetoria, and beholden to no other. Taken at an early age, these children are the unfortunate offspring of women that have been used for entertainment by vampires at their lavish parties. After being brought into their new family, the children spend their time studying and praying, learning to live with the dhampir affliction that has taken their bodies. They are taught that to drink the blood of a human is the ultimate sin, and they sustain themselves upon the livestock they keep.
They are drilled daily in the art of unarmed combat, though violence is always a last resort. Instead, they are taught many different skills in ways to hide from or avoid attack, often using these skills to augment those around them who will do the damage in their stead. When they come of age, they will often stalk vampires and follow them to their homes, where the Bloody Envoy will then organize the foul creature’s demise.
The plain and simple robes of these monks are regularly seen upon the road, and people will greet them with open arms, knowing them to be fair and considerate. The monks will often help local communities in their hour of need, whether that be with healing, coin, protection, or holy blessings. But all the time they are vigilant to the foul taint of vampires. Their single, most important mission and the highest order of their vows: to rid the world of this vile disease."
This lore is interesting, it's not the same lore you have heard time and again. There are a few twists on the "half vampire" hunters displayed here, them being completely nonviolent is very interesting in tandem with being "sworn to eradicate the disease" that they themselves also have by birth. My one complaint is that a lot of this lore is open ended and not very fleshed out (not a bad thing persay, maybe other cards will come along that will explain this stuff a bit more). What happens to their mothers are they also living in the colony? Does a vampire bit turn people? How are vampires made vampires in Splinterlands? and etc. I look forward to learning about these vampire bastards, and what is already written fits their abilities snugly.
Talking Tidbits| The Meta: Yodin in downswing?
The "reflection shield" ability that negates blast is the herald of Yodin's downswing. Some of these cards are READILY available reward cards (like Kinjo) and can make yodin ineffective in every tier. Yodin's time is waning and we will begin to see market lows for yodin compared to the highs he had faced in the past due to the greater strategic availability currently.

Thanks for the comment and the read. He's the best antiblast guy realistically at this point, as you can tell from above he is definitely recommended.
