Amazon Pack Promotion Lasting Until January 2

There is currently a promotion for amazon prime members from GU, anyone who signs up via this promotion will receive free core packs to start their journey in GU. Objectively this is an excellent partnership and a great idea for getting players started in the game.... however, currently the pack opening experience is not without it's "quirks". The infamous "flashbang" whitescreen instead of seeing what cards you got and having to check your collection. Or the "endless loading button" that baits you and you have to check your collection anyway.

The Pack Opening Experience: A Journey at the least

Now, the pack opening experience has been worst aesthetically in the past (no card text, endless pack exploding eardrum death, the ol' flashbang, and my personal favorite the ol "Guess that card black box of despair"). As of late these bugs have been much much less frequent, but still occur. The other day I opened roughly 44 core packs on stream. Because that's the ceremony one does after playing a rough overall go as nature in casual attempting to use herald of the hydra (we did pull off something cool but that's another story). We got flashbanged and baited, but there was no black box of despair and these bugs only happened 2 in 44 (or so) instances. That is EXPONENTIALLY better than what it has been in the past, with numbers that were much more double digit to say the least. Overall I think the promotion is good and the pack opening experience is exponentially better than it was before this point, but still could use some improvements.

The Cons, The Pros: Overall Positive

The pros of this are that this partnership will drive many users to try the game (which is great, the game is a fun f2p title regardless). The cons being the potential association of wallet with an amazon prime account. Thankfully core packs (the packs in the promo) can be obtained via just playing the game, so there is no need to sign up in this way and associate an amazon prime if one wishes. Overall this promotion is a positive for the game and a positive for web2 onboarding to web3 as a whole, will we retain those players? That's another story. Is this a good step? most certainly.
