Ingredients:
- 1 cup Dalia ( porridge )
- 1/4 cup pink lentils (masoor ki dal)
2 tablespoons oil or ghee
1/2 garlic or ginger paste
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
- 1/4 cup finely chopped tomatoes
- 1/4 cup finely chopped carrots
- 1/4 cup finely chopped capsicum
- 1/4 cup finely chopped spring onion
- 1/4 cup finely chopped peas
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
3 green chilli
Salt to taste
black salt to taste
- black pepper powder
- 4 cups water
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
- 1 lemon
Instructions:
Preparation:
Rinse the cracked wheat or pink lentils thoroughly and set aside.Tempering the Aromatics:
Heat oil or ghee in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Vegetable Medley:
Introduce the colorful array of chopped vegetables (carrots, capsicum, green chilli, spring onion, peas) and sauté for a few minutes, creating a vibrant and nutritious base.
- Infusing Flavor:
Incorporate ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute until the raw aroma dissipates. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until soft with the oil starting to separate.
- Spice Harmony:
Sprinkle turmeric powder, and salt. Ensure an even mix to coat the vegetables and grains with the aromatic spices.
- Main Component:
Add the rinsed cracked wheat or pink lentils, sautéing for another 2-3 minutes to let them absorb the flavorful essence.
- Liquid Gold:
Pour in the water, bringing it to a gentle boil. Reduce the heat, cover the pan, and allow it to simmer until the cracked wheat or lentils are tender and the water is absorbed.
- Finishing Touch:
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves, black salt , black pepper , lemon adding a burst of freshness to the dish.
