Yesterday was Sunday, and while my husband and daughters were in the mood to relax, I, as usual, didnโ€™t get any rest. Sundays especially mean taking care of everyoneโ€™s whims! ๐Ÿ˜‚ My husband requested his favorite chai, and both my little princesses were lost in their mobiles. Despite all this, thereโ€™s a certain joy I find in pampering them.

For lunch, everyone wanted chicken stew, which happens to be a favorite in our household. And honestly, I love preparing it as much as they enjoy eating it. Thereโ€™s something comforting about a warm, hearty bowl of chicken stew. Itโ€™s a dish that brings us all together at the table, no matter how busy the day is.

Let me share a little bit about this delicious dish and the recipe, in case you want to try it yourself!

๐•€๐•Ÿ๐•˜๐•ฃ๐•–๐••๐•š๐•–๐•Ÿ๐•ฅ๐•ค:

500g chicken (preferably with bones for extra flavor)

500g medium-sized onions, finely chopped

7-8 garlic cloves

1-inch piece of ginger, grated

1 large capsicum diced

4-5 tomatoes

4-5 dried red chilli

1teaspoon turmeric powder

2 tbsp vegetable oil

2 bay leaves

1 cinnamon stick

4-5 whole peppercorns

1 tsp cumin seeds

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh coriander for garnish

๐™‹๐™ง๐™š๐™ฅ๐™–๐™ง๐™š ๐™ฉ๐™๐™š ๐˜พ๐™๐™ž๐™˜๐™ ๐™š๐™ฃ-

Wash the chicken pieces and set them aside.

In a cooker heat the oil . Add the chopped onions and cook until the onions become translucent.

Add the cumin seeds, bay leaves, cinnamon stick, and peppercorns. Saute them together.

Add turmeric powder and mix well.

Add ginger garlic paste.


Add chopped tomatoes and dried red chilli and mix well.

Now, add the chicken pieces and capsicum to the cooker. Stir them well, so they get coated with the spices.

Add 1/2 cup water/ coconut milk (if available) . Season with salt and cover, and let the stew simmer for 10- 15 minutes on low heat, or until the chicken is cooked through and the vegetables are tender.

After releasing the pressure from the cooker, keep it on the stove for 5 more minutes.


Garnish and Serve:
Once done, sprinkle fresh coriander on top and serve the chicken stew hot with bread or rice.
