4 Cards That Stood Out in A Trip to the Alpha Bargain Bin

Alphas are going to work the land. Time to get them cheap?

None of this article is financial/investment/legal advice, it contains a strategic valuation analysis of speculative assets that can be subject to market fluctuations. You are suggested to seek out a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) for all investments and the author is not an RIA. Splinterlands' Terms of Service identifies Splinterlands/Steem Monsters as not being an Investment Company. As defined by the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations, Steem Monsters (the parent company of Splinterlands) and the Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) that was published by Steem Monsters can be argued to rise to the definition of being classified as Financial Institutions in the United States. This is a duty to warn and inform given that the actions to be described regard the valuation of assets and speculation of events to take place.

With so much focus going to cards that will be used in matches and their overall decline and likely further decline, the older cards are neglected. It is time go further back and examine the Alpha Edition, what cards would be great bargains to tend to your plot of land? After all, Alpha cards command a 10X output when working the land. Alpha cards are going to be more limited in use cases: Brawl frays, Gobson Masters tournaments, and Land. Nobody will be using these cards in Wild in the near-future as Wild will be the "bot zone" and it would be a waste to use these cards in a Ranked Rewards capacity. Many have powder dry and have stopped playing altogether, but may wish to enter at some point and use some of these older cards as their form of putting their toes in the water. For land or flipping, here are your Alpha Bargain Bin standouts.

1. Zintar Mortalis

Zintar Mortalis on a per BCX basis is fetching a rather inexpensive price. Consider that it is an Alpha card that is Rare and in the Death element, which makes it rather useful card. Also, it's an underpriced card relative to the rest of the Alpha Edition.

The third-lowest percentage gain from 785 days ago among Alpha cards on a per BCX basis was enjoyed by Zintar Mortalis owners.

It has also fallen in price (per BCX) in the past 3 months by 72%. Which makes this card a relative bargain.

2. Fire Demon

This one seems like an obvious choice. There are several things going for it.

  1. At a 3 month low on a per BCX basis.
  2. Enjoys the best PP/Cost Ratio among Alpha cards.

image.png

  1. Down 27.2% from its per BCX price 3 months ago.
  2. Could still continue falling and hit support around $4.50 per BCX.

3. Stone Golem

It's a card that is not going to be very playable, but for an Alpha card, it is a bargain that also happens to be able to tend to Land quite well.

It will face support at $2 per BCX, but on a per BCX basis, the price fluctuates between $2-4, which points to its steadiness. It can always nearly double in price as well.

As an owner, you have options here.

4. Medusa

On a per card basis, Medusa is interesting. It is the card that has appreciated the least in the past 785 days. It has hit 1 year lows at $3.20. It's a bargain play with the hope that the card can jump up in price again, it's almost like you're able to buy the card back in March 2021.

It's hard to go too wrong here.

Below are the 3 month returns with high and low price and the 785 day returns with high and low price respectively.

Bargains can certainly be had. It's all in the way that you want to approach this that you can possibly get something that meets your desires in the Alpha Bargain Bin.
