Dos bellezas antiguas [Two vintage beauties ]

Hello coffee lovers. I recently saw two old models of coffee makers in two houses here in Havana, Cuba, my city, and I would like to show them to you.

The first image belongs to one of the first editions of a Cafetera Atomica brand coffee maker. This marvel was designed in 1946 by Giordano Robbiati in Milan, Italy. This coffee maker has a hole through which the water is poured, a handle where the ground coffee is placed, and an arm through which the steam passes.

The following model was the most used in Cuba in the past. In fact, it was used in my house until a few years ago. This model uses the principle of filtering. The previously ground coffee is placed in cheesecloth (cloth with small holes) and very hot water is poured over the powder, falling into a container, dragging with it the flavor and smell of the coffee.

This copy of the aforementioned coffee maker belongs to my girlfriend's grandmother (@dianegr) but the fabric is missing and it is no longer used.

In Cuba we currently use the Italian or moka pot to prepare coffee (almost a mandatory drink in 99% of our homes). This consists of a lower container where the water is placed and has a safety valve, which has caused serious injuries to several people after it was thrown due to the equipment malfunctioning at a given moment. In addition, this container has a funnel with a filter where the ground coffee is placed. An upper part is screwed to this, which also has a filter at the base and which will be the depository for the already prepared coffee. This coffee maker also uses the filter system. They come in different sizes and can be used on gas or electric stoves.
