I WOULD LOVE TO RELIVE THIS DAY

It is just the second month of the year and I realized that a lot has actually happened and a lot of decisions has been made as well. We have all lived about 50 days in this new year of 2024 and definitely, a lot of events can be attached to some of the days that have passed in this year. So, if I were to relive one particular day that has passed in this year, it will be my graduation day.

The reason is because there is a lot I want to change about it. That day wasn’t the perfect day and yet, it still managed to be one of my best days of the year. I wonder how much more beautiful it would have been if things had gone differently that day.

So, it is not actually as if the day was a bad one or anything, it was just super clumsy and stressful. I didn’t sleep for 48hours before my convocation day because I was busy at the studio. I got home on the morning of my convocation and I slept off because my body had been craving the rest I refused to give to it. I got to the hall so late and barely met anything left, I couldn’t even get the yearbook.

I got back outside and the crowd outside was so much I could barely see myself. The network was super terrible and I could not reach out to the people that came to celebrate me on time. I couldn’t even post my convocation pictures until evening. Apart from the fact that my network was so bad, my phone gave me so much troubles. My battery was bad and it would just go off at anytime. I was super frustrated and could barely smile because nothing was actually funny.

My family could not even get inside the school to the event ground because the road was blocked with several cars. We resulted to going to my hostel instead and that was where it started getting better and I could relax. Everyone ate, my friends came around, and it was all fun. I got a cake from my brother and his friend, I got a laptop as a gift from my boyfriend as well. Spending the day with everyone and having them celebrate with me felt so so good.

However, I would choose to relive it so as to cancel all the stressful part of that day and have an all-round beautiful celebration. One where everything is the way I envisaged my graduation day to be. It’s such a beautiful phase of any young person’s life and I am glad to have gone through it.

I’m still going to have one more graduation by God’s grace, when I finally get my master's degree. I hope it will be the perfect graduation ceremony of my dream. I would want all my family and friends there, just like the last one.

Some of my graduation pictures…

It's not easy to graduate in grand style. No, it isn't for the faint at heart. Despite the rather tiring day, you sure had a blast. I get why I didn't hear from you that day now.

If you would do anything differently that day—other than cancelling the stress, of course—what would it be?

Yeah, I am so sorry. I actually tried reaching out to you a few days later to wish you a happy birthday in arrears, but the call kept failing. My phone does that sometimes, and it can be very frustrating.

Honestly, it's the entire way the whole thing wasn't so composed that was somehow. So apart from the stress, which is like the major ingredient of most events, I would just really love it to be super composed and also convince my family members that came around to stay the night.

Congrats on your graduation, it's no small feat. I understand how you feel about the stressful part of that day, lessons must have been learnt such that in future busy/stressful events you will be better prepared for eg; the masters graduation, wedding day, etc.
I wish you well in your endeavours

Definetely, a better preparation will be ensured in future events. My graduation ceremony made me realize that there is no small event, and that you need to have a Plan B, and even a Plan C in case things do not go the way that you have visualized.

Thank you so much for your comment, I really do appreciate.

The main thing here is that you made it to your graduation things could have been way worse but let’s be glad it wasn’t.
Having a splendid day is one of the underrated things in life.
Still on still congrats on your graduation

Sincerely speaking, I can relate to this, on my matriculation day, my twin brother who happened to have been the only person to accompany me to school developed ulcer just as he was dressing up, I had to even take him to the hospital and before I could get to school, the pledge has been given, I just wish I could relive 18th March, 2017 again.

Don't worry, your master degree graduation will be your dream celebration.
