Home is inside. Watercolor illustration

I present to you my latest drawing called “Home is inside”. This is an abstract depiction of the idea of finding your inner peace.

The painting illustrates a snail that carries his own home with him. There are fungi growing inside that home, showing an entire ecosystem developing inside his house.

You can see a little fellow riding a carrot. You can also see some carrot roots surrounding the snail. I have used the carrot as a metaphor for our old paradigms, that are fixed, making us stuck to an idea.

Finding a home inside yourself is vital as outside circumstances can change. You can find yourself homeless, living in a place you do not like, or perhaps you share a house with a partner that is toxic, or maybe you are in a middle of a divorce and that place you call home becomes a nightmare.

So in the end your inner peace is actually the place that you build inside yourself. That, in my opinion, can be called a real home as you carry it with you wherever you go, just like the snail does.

I love the way this painting is talking about our inner peace
If we want to be at peace with others, we need to be at peace with ourselves first and that’s just it

Yes my dear friend! If someone is holding anger and turmoil inside they can never appreciate the peace they get from others and they will not be able to offer it. You can only give to the outside what you have inside!
Thank you for reading this post!

Exactly! The idea is that when we buy a house or think about having a home, we believe that we will be very happy. It will only last for a short while as we all know that feeling peace inside a home is more than owning the damn walls. It is about how you feel there. The same goes with the workplace. You can feel amazing or miserable there. But how about transforming the reality of the four walls and making it obsolete in face of a real solid ever lasting home called inner peace? And this inner building is more solid and safe and nurturing and loving than anything you could own in the material world.
Thank you for reading me!

awesome psychedelic style & the message is also great!
i feel like a snail :}

  • also their shell/ home is fractal based so going deeper inside into the spiral is practically infinite :P

I’m curious why the carrots have that meaning. Beautiful work, and I can definitely relate to needing to create a healthy environment inside myself in order to bear with the uncomfortable outer environment. And eventually the outer world started to reflect the inner one, as it does

The carrots have deep roots and they are stuck where they are planted. So they can never be as free as a snail carrying his own home. This is why I have attached the carrots to the snail , in order to illustrate the paradox in our minds: we want to be free while we still are rooted in old beliefs.
