Winter Bonsai!
Hey everyone. I haven't done a bonsai post for a while I suspect the crypto market has sadly got us all down in the short term right?? Never the less today I decided to chipper up and have a little dabble at taking a few nice pics of my epic bonsai plants.
Above my second tiny bonsai leopard tree, this was planted with three of my Jacaranda trees in 1 pot and really wasn't doing well so I transplanted it, great decision that was.
Above my older larger leopard tree plant which is doing really well, they are just outside my front door and receiving the perfect amount of sun, water and love. Below my little cherry tree which is a cold weather tree and loving life in winter as they do.
This chap not sure what it is I pulled out the garden as a sapling turns out though makes a lovely bonsai and is thriving. I also have a smaller version of this beauty. Above my glorious macademia nut one of 3 doing very well.
This Jacaranda tree is thriving aswell, I have it in semi shade, my other two Jacaranda trees are in full sun they don't seem too happy, possibly frost or extreme cold got to them, come summer I'm sure they will return to form.
Nature the incredible.
I trust you have a wonderful week.
Love, light and blessings.
Cheer$;)
So do jacarandas prefer a little shade? I keep my only one in full sun. Hmm. Maybe you're on to something because I do remember mine drying out very fast in pervious summers and the very light "pot" being prone to typing over. I did a pretty haphazard job of root pruning last year (the entire pot was full of one massive yellow root ball) but it survived.
I still consider it a protobonsai though. I still want to further reduce the root system by about 2/3 but that's pushing it if doing in one go. Any advice?
Sometimes I feel like I'm in bonsai no man's land since I pretty much only work with atypical (exotic?) specimens with no examples to follow.
They seem to like semi sun in bonsai form in the wild they thrive in full sun. Cheer$;)
