End Of Season Honey Harvest
Hey everyone as the season draws to a close tonight was the night we decided to super down our last frames for the season and were pleasantly surprised to see a decent honey yield.
I stay in an area where the honey flow ends in January. This year we tried an experiment and it paid off. We left supers (honey collection frames) on later and to our joy and surprise many were full, what a wonderful bonus.
To a bee keeper the sight of what resembles icing on a cake, evokes a feeling of joy and satisfaction in the knowledge that you have hit the motherboard of natural golden nectar.
Me and my bee suit. Contrary to urban myth, bee-suits do NOT prevent you getting stung, bees sting right through them (if you are allergic bee-keeping isn't for you) it simply minimizes the venom. I get stung everytime I work bees, almost literally.
I recently started packaging honey in plastic 1
5 litre buckets, we have so much so this is a little less work, I still do bottle in clear glass jars too.
Below the tennis court bees which moved in 8 months ago, we retrieved a few kgs of honey here too and then supered down for winter.
For some reason these frames have 0 honey and mould. These hives are under trees and in the shade. I have always maintained that bee hives in the sun are healthier and produce more, we should probably move them. Below my partner and landlord looking dapper, all dressed up and ready to go.
Nature the incredible.
I trust you have a wonderful weekend.
Love, light and blessings.
Cheer$;)
