Splinterlands | Venari Spellsmith Challenge
The 2 abilities I haven't yet experimented with that much are Dispel (which clears positive effects on enemy monsters) and Amplify (which increases the Torns, Reflect, Return Fire by +1). Let it be the case that the monster highlighted in the battle challenge has both these abilities and it's a Neutral Card so it's possible to combine with Summoners that give +1 like Arlic or Obsidian. A single card is quite expensive costing 0.47$ which makes it one of the higher-cost Chaos Legion Rare cards kind of indicating it is good. From what I understand, these cards with Dispel tend to be way more useful at higher levels since there are just way more buffs and abilities in those leagues.
I had 29 singles in my account and leveled 25 of them up to a level 4 Rare Neutral for this challenge and tried to get the card to work but miserably failed at it because there just isn't enough need for the dispel ability in Gold League while the Queen Mycelia is just a way better option for the Amplify Ability. I also don't have the needed cards to make good combinations like Summoners that give all monsters abilities to shine with the amplify ability.
The game rules had 22 mana to spent and Opportunity combined with Reverse Speed. I tend to like the Death Summoner for lower mana rules and played my 1-speed Furious Chicken in 1st place followed by the Haunted Spirit as main tank which should make use of the Amplify ability from the Venari Spellsmith which I put in last place. I always like to use the Shadow Presence in lower mana battles and the Parasistic Growth tends to pick up a ton of health when played from the middle position making use of the reverse speed rules. The Revealer also is a slow card with good abilities.
My opponent, however, happened to have good counter cards with the Lord Arianthus as main tank and the -1 Melee attack Summoner which both kind of put me in a position where I was screwed. Sometimes you are just faced with a card combination you can't break and this was one of those matches. I won't be playing the Venari Spellsmith anytime soon and think he's quite overvalued at least for Gold League. I can see it potentially be a useful card at max level though and maybe one day it will be one of the meta cards.
