Splinterlands | The Need to Fix Card Prices & How !

Card Oversupply Failsafe Mechanism
The Problem of Low Card Values!
Solving The Card Oversupply!
With a new set of Soulbound Reward cards coming, there will be a way to unlock the current set. How it looks like it will be done right now to me is the worst possible way in that the only benefit that unlocking gives is that you are able to sell and rent the cards. The price to unlock will be at least 10x the DEC burn value and it will become more expensive as time moves on until a point where they no longer can be unlocked. This basically becomes a game of speculation with the only real reason to unlock is the hope that one day new players come in that want to buy the card and the supply is smaller than the demand so the ones that paid to unlock can sell for a small or bigger profit.
I believe this will create a low drive of players who want to pay the high price to unlock and in the future possibly a big advantage for older players in ranked as they can keep using the soulbound cards while newer players might have to pay a lot for them in order to be somewhat competitive.
How Soulbound Unlocks Should Be Done!
I don't believe that it should be possible to continue earning at 100% just with Soulbound cards and I do think that the unlock is a great opportunity to lower the oversupply or at least not make it even bigger.
Card Burn Requirement for Unlocking: Each unlock should require a similar type card to be burned (along with max 2x the DEC burn value), So a common Life cards requires a common Life Card to be burned, a Rare Water Summoner cards requires a rare water summoner cards to be burned, a Legendard of a certain spinter requires another legendary of that Splinter. This would create an actual demand of people buying older cards pushing the price up while they get burned. If for each Reward set this was the case, it means that these cause zero actual card inflation and players that buy new sets will know that there will be some kind of demand for them in the future.
Bonus % for Games with no Soulbound Cards: Instead of 'punishing' players for using soulbound cards that have or had the option to be unlocked, just reward players who do have them unlocked or use none of these soulbound cards in their decks. This can be done gradually starting with a small % that ramps up slowly but surely during the unlock period. I would also not mind a 50%+ reward cut for players that use 4 or more Soulbound cards in their match just to avoid continued extraction from bots or players.
Conclusion!
The oversupply in cards has gotten Splinterlands in a Death Spiral and the Unlock of Soulbound cards should be and excellent way to actually start fixing this issue. As long as cards continue to go at such low prices, there is zero intention for anyone to ever buy new packs or cards and the game is pretty much dead in the water. There is no point in getting new players in the game if they are unwilling to buy packs or cards because it's clear that they will get crushed on them!

That's what they're planning? Pretty crazy if true.
What they should do is make it so that a new rule is that players can NOT use more than 3 Reward cards in ANY Splinterlands battle. This would force battles to be used with half reward cards and half bought for owned cards. This would finally bring some value to bought for owned cards. Right now bots with nothing but MAX souldbound cards and perfect line-ups can still make Diamond and Champions League in Wild league.
Yeah, everything points toward the unlock of soulbound card to become the next major fuck up.
I 100% agree that the soulbound cards helped crush the prices of real cards as bots can just use those exclusively since they included summoners. Bringing back value to owned cards should be priority one way or another as more and more players are leaving because of their decline while nobody new is coming in. Still feels like there are very rough times ahead.
Such common sense ideas with making rewards not counting for reward cards. It does make you wonder sometimes. I think the Rebellion set is looking to become super rare if it continues to get burned at the current rate, I wonder if that might be reversed at some point...
Likely there will be some speculation on Rebellion later down the line and there are also the packs held by the DAO. Also, eventually Rebelling will be relegated to Modern which is sure to totally crush the prices of the cards. The issue however will remain that Modern is going to be super expensive to get into while for Wild it's way cheaper and it should always be the other way around. Unless they find a way to keep cards scarce holding their value the game won't go anywhere.
100%. I just cannot see myself picking up any meaningful amount of Rebellion cards at these prices. Either they need to drop in price or something has to change. I also liked the artwork at first, but am more liking riftwatchers card colours, they are better on the eye.

Best of Luck 😉Hi @costanza. The problem is not the oversuply of cards in Splinterlands. The real problem is that developers do not want to fix the game with simple solutions, for example SPLINTERLANDS IS BROKEN: A SIMPLE PROPOSAL TO FIX EVERYTHING.
All pseudo-markets of Splinterland are no capable to generate a real economy in the game. The only market with real potential to generate a economy in the game were the battles, that are fading out. If battles were fixed, cards, potions, sps, dec and everything else will begin to rise in value because an economy will be created.
SPS is a speculative criptocoin where its principal function is descentralization not monetary. But, if the perceived value of the game grow then SPS grows. But, in the current situation where many red flags exists, there is no way that SPS grow in value, in fact it has to go asintontically to zero with time. That is simple logic.
The problem never were the bots or the oversulply of cards but the intrinsic mechanic of value destruction in the game.
Because of the many red flags I never put a dime into the game, but I like a lot the game, and I will be playing until the last server is turn off.
New players allocated in one new league where no bots are allowed can bring motivation to buy cards
Maybe it will not work, but we need a solution.
