There was a break of a day with the league now resuming with week 24 already. I aim to continue to continue the good streak and still feel quite confident going into the matches also still having plenty of fun which actually was also the case at the time early in the season when things didn't really go s planned. 4 Matches on Saturday...
RWDM vs Standard
RWDM over 90 minutes played a reasonable match against Union losing with 3-2 but covering the handicap and showing that they are capable on the offensive end. However, they continue to be in the danger zone with now 5 matches in a row lost and some of their fans in previous home match revolting making it so that the match was not ended. This potentially repeating makes it tricky to take bets as winners might end up as void. Standard last weekend showed that their main weakness is in front of the goal as scoring goals is so hard for them. They were overall the better team against Antwerp but still ended up losing 0-1 on a goal that came falling totally out of the air with a 2% chance of going in. Standard did show good drive though which is at least something to build on. They are only 3 points above the danger zone and the question remains if teams would settle for a draw keeping the status quo or fully go for it to fully close or extend the gap between them. Based on the pre-game info, the -0.25 favorite line on Standard and 2.25 total line feel about right. Standard in their last 7 away games never got above 9 corners, for RWDM at home that is 50-50. RWDM is the worst 1H home team but only actually lost it twice. Standard hasn't won a 1st half in their last 6 away games. I will wait and see how the match flows before potentially getting something in.
No Pre-Game Bets
Westerlo vs OH Leuven
Westerlo seems to finally have gotten in a flow which is fully linked to their new coach. They managed to take the deserved 4-2 win against Cercle taking a hot start with 100% scoring and a lack of focus when having a big lead which allowed Cercle to score a couple goals. I do see them as one of the over teams in the league with the capability of scoring goals and a style that is more forward. They also have plenty of options off the bench but in the end right now are not safe just yet as they are 4 points clear only off the play-downs. OHL is one of those teams who are 4 points below Westerlo and also here it's the question if both teams will settle with the status Quo or if the want to increase / reduce the gap taking the risk. Given the form and the play style of Westerlo, I do expect them to go for it also because they play at home and OHL might be dangerous playing the counter game. They are coming off a 2-1 win against Genk. For this match, I do expect Westerlo to take the initiative with a drive of actually wanting to win the match which might play into the card of OHL who could punish them on counters. I did take an initial 0.2 unit position on
Over 2.75 @ 1.886 with an eye to possibly increase on this in-game. I'm also tempted by Westerlo 1H -0.5 corners based on what I expect the match picture to be but their poor corner stats hold me back.
Kortrijk vs Charleroi
Kortrijk with their new coach has been pulling some wonders with a win and 2 draws against Standard, Leuven and Club Brugge last week. This despite their play actually being not that much better compared to before.They are still 6 points behind on the 2nd last and pretty much play with nothing to lose at this point. Charleroi is only 3 points clear of a play-down spot and the defensive play of their coach simply isn't clicking anymore. They also have gone in a mode where their play doesn't need to be nice with only the points cointing. Last week they did get away with it ending the home match against Eupen with a 1-0 score even though Eupen was the better team in the 1st half. Kortrijk is a team that in the last 14 matches never got above 1 expected goal while Charleroi in the last 5 away games on average had 0.67 xg. My lean for sure is on the under but I should have taken in early this week. By now the odds went down from U2.75 @ 1.88 to under 2.5 @ 1.943 which took away most of the edge and I'm not really willing to chase it. I did take just 0.1 unit on
1H Under 1 @ 2.01 as most likely the quality of play won't be that great and the combined 9W-6L record on that line often against teams who have more quality supports the odds.
Genk vs Union SG
Genk with many missings wa sa team to oppose but today they should have both Heynen and El Khannous back in the midfield which should make a difference. They however are missing Fadera while Cuesta and Galaraz are suspended. This leaves them with Nkuba and Sobol who both are new on the wing backs. I expect them somewhere in between the great form they had before the winter break and the poor form they had when too many players were missing. Their defense however remains a big question mark at the moment. Union on the other hand just continues their winning ways even though it must be said that their actual performance hasn't been top in the last 3 matches. I do fully expect this to be a match where both teams just go for it from the get-go with no intentions of building a wall or refusing to play in the hope of getting a result that way. I did take an initial 0.107 unit bet on
1st Half Over 1.25 @ 2.267 with an eye to possibly increase this in-game at the Over 1 line or lower. I do think Genk might get in trouble defensively in this match and Union Team total over is also on my radar.
