Belgian League 2024-2025 | Transfer Updates #2

I'm trying to keep up to date with all the transfer news happening in the Belgian League during the summer bringing weekly reports on it with an eye on beating the Betting Market in the 2023-2024 Season once again ...

I have highly enjoyed the Sorare Fantasy Football NFT Play2Earn game last 2 season and can recommend it to everyone who is a football fan and watches many matches as it certainly gives them an added dimension. I'm also using the transfer window to possibly pick up some good deals along the way.

Last week I covered the top teams and now it's time to have a brief look at what the lower ranked teams have been up to.

Biggest News & Transfers So Far...

Kortrijk

I kind of like what Kortrijk is doing so far. They got back Gilles Dewaele from Standard who I expect will be a solid starter in the defense. They also loaned 19-year old Nacho Ferri for Frankfurt which potentially should give them a scoring striker which is of vital importance for these teams. He's going for 30€+ for a Rare card in Sorare which always is a good indication that he will be a decent player. They also got Huygevelde From Union and have some players who will go back after they loaned they last season but none maybe aside from Kangwa who really helped them. They did opt in the buy option for Fujii who should be a good defender. One of the Key questions going forward is if Kardi will stay or not which I see as unlikely.

Mechelen

They remain a team that is very tight on budget. They did find a replacement for Goalkeeper Coucke who left in Ortwin De Wolf who signed for 3 years. They had en eye on him for longer but last year he went to Zunte-Waregem where I guess he did ok without impressing. He is a goalkeeper that should be good enough to be a solid 1st goalkeeper in the 1st division. I do own multiple copies of him in Sorare as I have been anticipating something like this for the last 2 years.

Sint-Truiden

They had a great year and will almost see their entire team be transferred including their coach. Steuckers, Smets, Bocat, Hayashi are sure to leave while Koita likely also will be gone along with Delorges and Maybe Suzuki. Their new coach will be Christian Lattanzio who is an Italian coach who comes over from the MLS. So it would be normal for Stvv to have a really difficult season especially at the start as there will be many players to fit in as they lost all of their quality.

Cercle Brugge

They were one of the revelations last season and got an European Ticket. They now did lose some quality with Siquet and Lemarechal going back to their club while top striker Denkey also as good as surely will make a transfer. They did acquire Nazinho now fully from Sporting. I do expect some more movements as they are going into the European Qualifier rounds. It also looks like their coach will stay so opponents will have an annoying time even though they might better know how to handle this by now.

Charleroi

I am expecting Charleroi to be a more forward playing team the coming season with De Mil as coach. Koffi left and they got Defourny from RWDM as likely their new 1st goalkeeper. He was one I took a small gamble on in Sorare a couple months back which now has paid off. They likely will lose quite some quality with Dari possibly going back to Brest while Ilaimaharitra along with some others are free to leave. Zorgane is one of the players that would be a big loss if he left while they did Extend the contract of Heymans who should get his fair share of goals next season. They already did a couple of transfers with Titraoui, Mayoka-Tika, Nzita who for me right now are all big question marks.

Standard

It's set to be another difficult season for Standard as there still isn't the money to get the needed quality in order for them to be the top team they used to be. On top of this, many of their better players left or go back to the team they were loaned from like Alzate & Kanga. They did some transfers with Kyei, Sutalo, Bulat. It remains to be seen how these players play out. Most likely, Standard will again be in for a big challenge.

So with less than a month to go before the start of the season, the 6 top teams still have quite some work to do. I will see if I can do the mid-table teams next week

Bad news: Saying see you later to Hive! 👋

We didn't get the needed support to continue cXc.world on Hive, as our DHF proposal lacked votes, but [Good News Everyone] cXc.world will add a Markdown copy button, allowing you to easily share your music + music you find on Hive.

For now, we're on WAX, with tools you can use to mint your own Music/Media NFT collection.
