Ramblings on a rainy Thursday
Today it has been raining since dawn. The truth is that since last night it has almost not stopped raining. We have had some power outages since last night as a consequence. And we don't have electricity as I write this.
However, today, I am not going to complain since I won't let anything ruin my day. And maybe it is that some hidden force just heard me. But guess what? The power just came back on.
Someone to remember
On a day like today, nine years ago, I said goodbye to a very important person for me. When I think of her, I can't stop smiling, and today instead of being sad, I thank life for being so generous with me and for letting me enjoy her for more than 40 years. My grandmother, Achi as my son and niece called her, was a very special woman, the best grandmother and great-grandmother anyone could ever want to have.
These days, since we came back from Colombia, and while I am adapting to my empty nest, I have wanted to keep busy, and that has included organizing things at home. And one of the things I have found tidying up one of the closets is a box of photos that my cousin left me when she went to live in Spain, and that belonged to her mother, my grandmother's sister.
The box is a little treasure. In it, I found this photo of my grandma when she was young. So I thought to leave the pic stored here in the blockchain. It was taken according to a note in the back on February 1937.
Someone to celebrate
But on a day like today, also 18 years ago, my niece was born. And yesterday, my sister called me to invite me to have breakfast with them. So despite the rain, the girls in the family, my mum, and auntie included went to have breakfast with my niece this morning. We went to a café I had never been to before. But to which I sure to return.
We had a morning full of laughs, remembering funny anecdotes. And breakfast, as you can see, was delicious.
I had a couple of toasts with avocado, arugula, serrano ham, and burrata which was so yummy. The place, in case anyone is wondering, is called Rio Cake Bistro.
Someone to love and who can drive you crazy
It's been days since I last wrote about Grogu. He's getting more naughty every day. Lately, one of his favorite places in the house to take a nap is my desk chair. And when he wants to lie down to rest while looking around, my desk suits him even better. He climbs up on it, and I lower him down, and he goes up again, and we go on and on. And guess who usually wins?
In the last few nights, his crazy hour, as I usually call it, is turning into the hour of terror. He runs into our room and runs over the bed while knocking off the nightstands whatever he finds in his path. Lately, I think his uncle Ed @tengolotodo really talks with him by telepathy and gives him bits of advice while I'm sleeping about how to drive me crazy.
I think that's enough ramblings for today, but before I say goodbye, a flower. An azalea for #alwaysaflower.

Yes, the rain has been intense.
I'm sorry you lost someone like your grandmother. People who give us so much joy should be eternal. I was very surprised that that 1937 photo is preserved so well.
The food looks delicious, but it's Grogu I want to hug 😻 😂 that up and down thing is very particular to them, almost unavoidable. And the crazy time too 😸 kisses.

For some reason, older photos are much better preserved. I have many more recent ones that are not in such good condition.
And Grogu's crazy times make me laugh as long as it's not in my bed in the middle of the night 😂.

Lost my grandma in 2020 during the Covid chaos and i miss her from time to time, but like you, I'm glad i got to spend some time with her before her demise and I'll forever hold those moments dear.

You are lucky as you found a picture of you grandma and pictures back then have a better quality I guess. I mean it doesn't moist.
I doesn't have any picture of my granny, I don't know why she doesn't have one. Honestly I almost forgot how she looks like. All I could remember is her curly hair which I got.
Oh, I remember Gertu in your pet cat. She used to share about it in some of her blogs too.
I have many photos of my granny as I remember her, but this one from when she was young is so special. There are others in the box with her sisters that I have to sort through and ask my mother to identify who is in those pictures.
And I do remember that Gertu has a couple of cats, quite naughty too. Thanks for stopping by 🤗

What a lovely photo of your grandma, Eli. Hive is a great place to store memories like this as so many precious old photos get lost. @ericvancewalton actually started a tag years ago called #blockchainmemoryproject which is a nice way to find your special memories.
Those power outages can be really annoying when one has things to do not so.

Speaking of #blockchainmemoryproject, it's a great idea and something that came to my mind when I came across the box that is filled with lots of photos. Most of them are of my great aunt, who did a lot of traveling when she was young. It would be so nice to have a place in the blockchain for future generations where to put all those, which aren't our memories but rather traces of our ancestors. I know you love genealogy and maybe we should think about a project for next year on Hive. What do you think?
