Always have a budget festive or no festive
This season we are in is the season many become poor even after having a budget. From the first month of next year, some people have started saving up for Christmas. It's not like they have one specific thing they plan to buy that Christmas.
It's just money to drink and flex with women, while some save up only to waste it on Christmas and start begging on the new year. Well, I will always tell anybody around me to have a plan b.
It's good to save to pamper yourself with all the year hustle and struggles, but not at the expense of being broken at the beginning of the year.
I already have a budget for every month, festive or no festive; the only difference is that the festive budget is usually bigger than other months because of the increment of goods in the market.
I always make a list of things that I will need during the festive period before the festive arrives, although sometimes, after having your budget, some foreseen circumstances might dispute it for you, I made my list, but most of the things I need, I do get at the end of November, like rice, beans, yam, groundnut oil, palm oil, and attachment for hair, even down to eyelashes and nails, that's if I intend to fix it.
After making sure that the main things are gotten in the house for the festive. Next, I begin writing my budget for the new year first, what are the necessary things that I will need in January, and what bills I am going to pay; if I finish doing this calculation, next on my list is my transportation and feeding for the new month.
How much can carry me till I receive my next pay? Am a very economical person. After I am done with all these calculations, next Christmas is ready, whatever is remaining in my pocket is for enjoyment and to travel to and fro to wherever I choose.
To have a beautiful Christmas and a sweet new year always have a budget according to your little or large income.
I didñt want to tell this story but my neighbor was having difficulty in his finances this year. He and his family are struggling to come back; the wife is a petty trader; she sells provisions and small foodstuffs like rice, garri, and oil at home.
When it got to this festive period; we all in Nigeria know that the price of foodstuff is thrice normal this year.
They have to start feeding from what she was selling for them to survive, but this is the problem right now. I don't know if anybody bought live chicken this year, and you all will agree with me that the price of chicken in the market this year is shocking, a whole thirty thousand.
So this man, knowing that the family is not up and doing, went to buy this chicken two at the price of twenty-five thousand naira each, that's fifty thousand. How did I hear this story? When he came back and told the wife what he bought, the wife was upset, like the money she would have added to her business. That's what he wasted on ordinary chicken; this man here just has a misplaced priority.
I have made my plans for the festive and am not going back to it. Remember that after festive life must continue, enjoy accord to your pocket.

An excellent strategy to buy before the festive season. It's like buying an umbrella in summer to use in winter. Of course, winter umbrellas are much more expensive!
Yes, if not you will end up spending more
If a person is saving a small amount for these festivals from the beginning of the year, then that person can enjoy it well and in such a situation also a good amount is accumulated and the person knows that he does not have to spend more than this. But this money that he is saving is the amount that is left after all the basic expenses of the person are over.
Exactly, thank you
