The Final Hope

The Final Hope.

It has been a tough time for Abigail as she is finding it difficult to cope with her studies. She only has to learn so that she can fulfill her parent's dreams. The question that kept running through her mind is "how am I going to make it when I'm getting older? She has forgotten that age is just a number and there is time for everything and a season which would come out to be your season of arousing blessings.

Now Abigail is seventeen years old and all her mates have gone out of secondary school and yet she is still struggling to work harder. Her parents had been her source of encouragement as they are not buoyant enough to spend so much on her. The only thing they could give was their prayers and their encouragement.

Abigail said to herself "is this how my life is going to end without coming to make my wanting to die dream come to reality?

Mayowa is in the university and happened to be his cousin. When he was home, he began to advise her to stick to her passion and never go back. He gave her instances of those who had gone to night school and yet came back with flying colors. He brought home with him some of her old books when he was still in secondary school and gave them to Abigail. She was so excited seeing those books as she has no textbooks to even read, not even talking of opening.

She started preparing herself to accelerate higher with the books she was given. Preparations can always take time except when you just need to revise. In her case, it was not a revision, but a full-time preparation.

Although, with her age, everyone had given up on her except her parents. She never wanted to relent, instead wanting to move higher to take her immediate and wanting to acquire a dream to the highest height.

Meanwhile, she succeeded in knowing the concepts in most of her subjects as she has the mind of becoming a banker. She has been feeling so great whenever she goes to the bank. Seeing the bankers and the way they behaved made her feel like having the urge to make it through.

It was a year later and she now made her way to the university after lots of studying. It was the advice her parents and her cousin gave to her that made her push forward. She began to do so well and those who were mocking her became her good talk of the day. Everyone in the community was using her as a point of reference to others. She became the talk of her town. Everyone would want to make friends with her as she is a free-minded being.

Right in the higher institution, I began to struggle with how to pay her fees. It was not easy for her but was managing and was starving just to push ahead. Sometimes she would miss out a day without food but must save the money for that day just to make her school fees complete.

Thank goodness, I have forgotten what I learned from mum. She said aloud, making her friends wonder what it might be. My mum was a hairdresser and knew how to play with any form of hair. I have learned from her and knew how to make all those styles out there.

She got involved in hair making and got a lot of customers. She started from her hostel and gradually was proceeding to become a great hairdresser. She plaited hair for one of her lecturer's wives for free and within the same week, she introduced her other friends to Abigail. She began to have home service and was plaiting for a huge amount of money. There was something about Abigail which was so unique. "her dream". Despite wasting time on making money to cater for her school fees and her welfare, she remained glued to her dreams because she just wants to fly higher and higher than her equals. She was still reading so intensely.

After four years of schooling, she finally was true to her struggle and was so grateful to her parents for giving her advice. It was her cousin that made her dream come to reality as well as her parents.
