THE SCIENCE OF POWER SUPPLY
If there is something that Nigeria as a country have been blessed with when it comes to natural resources, I will say it is the aspect of crude oil. If you are used to doing research and knowing about the importance of crude oil, you will discover that a country like Nigeria where I come from should not be suffering from power supply.
Buy reverse is the case. In Nigeria, our power supply is so poor and I will say my state kogi state seems to be the worst among other states. It can really be frustrating most especially when you discovered that there are other countries, I mean advanced countries out there who usually have uninterrupted power supply.
In kogi state where I presently reside, having a stable electricity has been a major issue that have affected the joy of people and not even that but affected the development of the state in general. There are lots of industries and companies that should have done their way to my state kogi but due to poor power supply, they refused to stop. Electricity is a major commodity for every Nigerian out there.
In my state, most residential houses makes use of preparid meter because from experience, it helps you to regulate the usuale of electricity consumption in most homes. You can on and off your power supply if you are using it or not. These helps to reduce the amount of billings that the PHCN always bring to every resident every months. But even with that, that does not settle the power blackout that usually happens sometimes.
Recently, there have been a massive upgrade as a lot of people have been using the solar energy for their electricity consumption. This has really been a very great advantage and alternative. But also the downside of it is the fact that is too expensive. Not everyone can afford it making the usage limited to only the rich people. People that only make use of solar panels are just the businesses, companies, industries and rich people lost of the time.
There are three major source of power supply for everyone in Nigeria and most especially in my state kogi state. Like I said earlier, we have the use of prepaid meters, we have the solar panels and we have the power supply that is direct. If I should personally choose? I will go with solar panel. Even though currently now, my house makes use of the direct power supply. But the cost of getting a solar panel that will serve the purpose I desire in my house is little. In fact the cost will be around 400,000 naira.
I strongly believe that the government should look at the power supply state and actually do something about it before it keeps getting worst day by day. I still strongly believe in the future of Nigeria when it comes to power supply or the availability of electricity but that will really depends on how we make use of our resources. We can definitely do much more than what we are really doing right now. I strongly believe that. All we just need to put in place are certain good leadership skills.

In Nigeria we just need to give up the hope of having constant power supply.
