We Own Our Digital Life

These days, many people are diligently working toward content creation and this trend is rapidly rising due to the advent of social media. TikTok, for example, is a now a major platform that offers opportunities for everyone, both novice and professional creators to benefit significantly in their digital lives. Hive, where I spend most of my digital life also provides such opportunities. Hive empowers creators of all kinds, give them the chance to receive value unlike many other platforms where some creators are left behind.

This era of rapidly emerging content monetization platforms, I believe, has evolved from the idea of decentralization. People are now after the concept of owning and monetizing their content. Decentralized systems have always advocated for this, and while it seemed like it was a distant goal years ago, it is now becoming a reality. Although these platforms remain centralized, they have mastered the art of attracting the masses by offering them some form of control and benefit. It seems like a great move, right?!

These platforms use your content to generate views, followers, and traffic, and in return, they offer you the option to enjoy some of the benefits. While this may sound good, it is not always a win-win for everyone. In these centralized systems, it’s often the central players who enjoy the lion's share while the users are exploited.

But what if those who create the content received an equitable share, proportionate to the value they add? This is what Hive does, where decentralization thrives. will central players on mainstream platforms embrace decentralised model with time, already the masses also ready ready for decentralized systems?

I believe the future is decentralized. More platforms will emerge to challenge the status quo, the big players having the absolute control. People eill increasingly prefer to control their own digital assets and data, and will decide how they will be used. While we have yet to see that future fully realized, Hive is making it possible to own one's digital life now.
