Money Hiding in Plain Sight: The Disguises You're Missing
Upon discovering the inspiring story of the man who transformed trash into a profitable business venture, I realized that money is present everywhere, though often hidden in plain sight. Dr Agyepong, with his visionary entrepreneurial spirit, recognized the potential for cash in what others saw as mere waste on the streets of Ghana. He founded a waste management company, which in turn created numerous job opportunities for many Ghanaians.
It is evident that with the right ideas, one can unlock the potential for wealth that surrounds us everywhere. Sometimes, these ideas are the crucial missing piece of the puzzle, preventing great opportunities from being discovered and realized. With an entrepreneurial mindset, one can identify and capitalize on the wealth of opportunities that lie dormant, waiting to be discovered.
The need for electric cars was apparent years ago when fossil fuel engines still dominated the market. However, despite the existence of batteries, the challenge of generating sufficient power to propel a vehicle remained a significant obstacle. Then came the likes of Elon Musk, who dared to explore innovative ideas and methods to develop electric vehicles. Today, Musk has become one of the wealthiest people on the planet.
This underscores a fundamental truth: the key to making money is having the right ideas. Ideas are the lynchpin that reveals where and how money can be found. It's astonishing to see how many people chase after money instead of chasing after ideas. In doing so, they miss out on tremendous financial opportunities because they fail to develop the right ideas that can attract finance.
Rubber waste has long been a significant issue in many schools across Ghana, and its management has been a difficult problem to solve. Unfortunately, the nation has failed to implement effective plans to control the situation, despite the potential to generate significant income from these products through recycling.
While teaching at Achimota school, the school environmental club came up with an innovative idea to create something useful out of recycled plastic bottles. By using the bottles, we were able to build a stunning giant Christmas tree that would have made an excellent business venture if partnered with companies.
The festive season is usually marked by a high demand for decorations, and the giant tree had the potential to become a significant player in the industry.
It was an incredible story of turning something which meant nothing to people after its usage into something that became the centre of attention in the school. It received a lot of media coverage in Ghana gave opportunity to students to share more about the school, sending its name far.
In my experience, I've found that great wealth lies hidden all around us, waiting to be discovered. And anytime I engage in more intellectual conversations with individuals who have a keen eye for seeing beyond what others see, I come to appreciate the value of ideas even more.
These individuals are always seeking new ways and better ideas, which leads to further discoveries. In my opinion, the abundance of wealth that surrounds us can only be accessed through the right ideas - they are the key that unlocks the door. What are your thoughts on this?
Your post reminded me of this lady who started a business making bricks from plastic waste in Nairobi:
Thanks for sharing this video. I saw it a while ago and it really motivated me. The idea is brilliant - finding ways to make use plastic waste that is found everywhere and turning it into a profitable venture. It's an example of how money can be hiding in plain sight
Everything in this world is an opportunity, just need someone to unlock and make an action to take that opportunity and made it successful, in terms of wealthy people right now, their bright ideas and vision for the future motivates them to change the world. Same as on Africa, there are lots of opportunities right there, if I have the capability to do some business then I will consider making it on Africa.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the power of opportunity and the potential for success through action and vision. I completely agree that there are opportunities all around us, and it's up to us to unlock and take advantage of them. It's encouraging to hear that you see potential in Africa and would consider doing business there if given the opportunity. With determination and creativity, there's no limit to what we can achieve. You are always welcome to Africa
Well said @collinz!, we still cry of hardship due to due the fact that we have failed to find more ideas to to unlock my opportunities avail for us. This discovery of Achimota students has led me learned a lot from this post. We always need to think afar, creat more ideas so that we can get more opportunities.
I'm glad you've learned something worthwhile from this post. it's important to look beyond our current circumstances and explore new ideas in order to unlock the opportunities.
This is shear creativity and entrepreneurial mindset at work. Until I saw this, I never would've imagined something like this coming from waste. If I was around Achimota, I definitely would've passed around to check it out.
Thank you. The ability to transform waste into something practical and innovative is truly incredible. It is my hope that this concept will motivate others to pursue similar endeavors. The plastic Christmas tree was particularly impressive and would have been a sight to see. If you had visited Achimota School around 2020, you would have been amazed by the giant Christmas tree.

Hello collinz. It is true that you have to chase good ideas instead of money, not everything is instantaneous and you have to take risks, good things take time. It is good that they have used this waste to make such a beautiful decoration, I have seen this in several places around here, it seems to me a great way to take advantage of waste.
Thanks for sharing your day on the Daily Blog. Hope you have a great Sunday 😀!
Thank you for your thoughtful comment! I completely agree with you everything you have added. Chasing good ideas and taking risks is important, and it's not always about the instant gratification of money. I'm glad you appreciate the use of waste as a way to create something beautiful and useful. It's inspiring to see more and more people recognizing the value in upcycling and reducing waste. Do have a great day! @lauramica
That there is one more ESSENTIAL "ingredient" to success. That one MUST be prepared to work!!
Over my long life, I have worked with plenty of people who have ... "bright ideas." Containing the "seeds" of the potential to become something great.
However ...
They are unwilling to put in the effort to "bring them to life." Which will involve persevering through the many challenges they will invariably face in realizing the potential contained within their original "bright idea" ...
I agree with your opinion that to achieve success, it is crucial to work hard. Merely having a brilliant idea is not sufficient; it necessitates both hard work and commitment to convert the idea into a tangible outcome. Overcoming obstacles and persisting through challenges is also vital when pursuing an idea. Thank you sir @roleerob
Happy to contribute to your post @collinz. No "sir" needed. I am just another man. No better or different than you or anyone else ... 😉
I totally agree to this as people tend to focus on money and forget the knowledge which is the major thing. I do fall victim to this as so many persons do.
Getting knowledge is the best. A song writer said teach me how to fish and don't give me the fish.
Learning how to make money if far important than making money without understanding how it comes.
How did they come up with the decoration. I just wish you can show us the steps that was taken to get that decor. It looks amazing.
Yeah great wealth lies within us but we usually don't see it as a result of neglecting everything around us. You can imagine someone making money from waste. Maybe he read about it somewhere and decided to try it in GHANA and now you can see how successful it is to him and the world at large.
Thank you for sharing that decor. Thanks for the post.
