Bringing Web3 to the Masses
The digital landscape is dominated by Web 2 platforms, which are mostly centralised and many people have grown used to these platforms. Even though the emergence of Web3 platforms like Hive brings a paradigm shift towards decentralization where users are empowered, in most cases, Hive is perceived by most people as simply a social media platform.
This is true especially for those who may be hearing or exploring the Hive blockchain for the first time. Hive's true essence transcends mere socialization. It offers a diverse ecosystem of dapps ripe with opportunities and innovation. With a layer 2 platform comprising social aspects, Hive may just appear as a social networking site.
However, delving deeper reveals a thriving ecosystem where users not only connect but also transact within a decentralized framework. Hive is a business, and beyond just posting and earning rewards, businesses can find the Hive blockchain a useful platform where their business can thrive.
The Hive blockchain, as we know, can be advantageous to many aspiring entrepreneurs as well as existing businesses who can leverage it for secure and transparent transactions. The current developments with Hive Keychain have simply shown us how transactions can be done easily and seamlessly.
Also on Hive are several investment options which anyone can take advantage of to accumulate wealth over time. So many things have been built in just one place which are ripe opportunities for people to explore. Despite significant progress in building Hive infrastructure, a crucial step remains: bringing these opportunities to the mainstream.
Effective marketing is essential, and this is where Web2 platforms like X, YouTube, Facebook,Instagram all come in. This might seem contradictory; we always highlight that Web3 should be preferred by users than Web2. At the recent New Internet conference, a question arose: why does Hive, a Web3 blockchain supposedly superior to Web2, rely on Web2 platforms for marketing?
This is a valid concern, and it will likely resurface when we position Web3 as offering a superior user experience. I was satisfied with the response @mcsamm gave when the question was asked. Widespread adoption of Hive requires reaching people where they are. Web2 platforms like social media such as X and Facebook boast massive user bases.
This makes them ideal channels to introduce users to the potential of Web3. Hive indeed offers a rewarding experience better than most platforms on Web2. Hive offers advantages like decentralization, user ownership, and censorship resistance, and more. However, we need Web2 platforms to serve as a bridge, a necessary step to onboard users to the rewarding Web3 experience Hive provides.
If there is a revolutionary new kind of technology in the future, we wouldn't expect everyone to abandon an existing technology so soon. It would be a gradual transition towards the new technology. By strategically positioning Hive, I believe with time there are many more users who will migrate to Web3. It's just a matter of time.
Yeah I was also very satisfied when he explained the part Web 2 only plays a role in spreading hive because everyone was actually getting confused when the lady asked if Web 3 can’t stand without web 2
Yes he did great, glad you were satisfied as well
