Sig Sauer Headquarters
Hi fellow Travelers,
Today I wanted to share one place that I had no idea was close to me!
Sig Sauer Headquarters
If you're someone who knows a little bit about, appreciates or loves firearms, one of the companies you more than likely have heard of is Sig Sauer! I've known about them for a long time but what I had no idea about was that they had their U.S. headquarters in little old New Hampshire!
Sig Sauer is one of the gun manufacturing companies that I've known about since I think before I ever shot a gun myself. They were all over the games like Call of Duty or Counterstrike, being a popular gun company for the military throughout the world.
I was unbelievably surprised to find out that one of the days I was out with my son on something entirely different than checking out a gun store, we had some downtime and I figured I would drive past the place we were going and see what there was to check out. I drove 5 minutes down the road, decided that I didn't want to keep going that way so I turned around in a parking lot. Fucking HILARIOUS that the parking lot I turned around in just happened to be the damn parking lot of Sig Sauer LOL that was a happy accident! The place had all kinds of cool stuff but one of the things I loved and will go back to explore more another day, is the Museum they had of Sig Sauer history!
There was a bunch of cool stuff for the new age rifles that they've got coming out. This one here was one of them, and appears to be more of a sniper rifle with the scope (appears more of a scope than a red-dot type of thing, and with the silencer on there too) and all that but I don't know a lot about that type of stuff. @galenkp is definitely the better person for that type of info!
They had some pretty sweet new machine guns. I think they were claiming that this one here was lighter than previous ones and I agreed with him as I hefted it, it didn't feel as heavy as I thought it was going to be. Not bad! Tax dollars at work lol.
On the back wall there, they had prototypes of guns or accessories that they were trying to come up with. I don't think any of those ones there made it out to the manufacturing floor besides being a prototype for various reasons but one of the things that they told me was they had a hunting rifle that was so much lighter than other ones were, for the comparable size. I picked it up and damn! It was definitely way lighter than it looked. I could imagine using that one for sure, when I eventually go hunting.
They had some other guns out for show here. I don't know if they are new ones or older ones but I'm thinking these were existing models or older models that they discontinued or something. They looked great though! There was a lot of information written all over the place but I didn't have a lot of time to check it out, with the little man trying to pick up everything in sight lol.
This was my favorite part here! Seeing the evolution of the guns over time, starting way back in 1751 apparently! That's nuts lol. I think Sig Sauer is most famous for their handguns, being used by the military and I think where I know it most frequently for is the P226, one of my favorite handguns when I was playing Counterstrike. It wasn't as strong as the desert eagle obviously but it had quite a lot of power to it and had a good sized magazine.
There were so many things to check out that I sadly didn't get to spend enough time wandering around it and looking with having the little man in tow. He was pretty enthusiastic about it all though, I will say. I don't know if that's because he's interested in it or because he's watched a video or two on YouTube where they are shooting nerf guns lol. I think a mixture of both is likely!
There was also this cool area here. These were competitive shooters and their corresponding awards. I don't know if these people are sponsored by Sig or what, they likely are? But I think they were using or prefer to use Sig weapons in their shooting so I think that's most likely why they are featured here on the Sig Museum area lol. It was cool to see a woman up there! I know it's a little sexist to think that women aren't winning competitions but I don't know if they are always featuring them in these things, so cool to see one up there.
There were so many cool things all over the place! Seeing the different pieces of the important things like the optics was awesome. I got to look closer at these briefly but didn't get to take a picture of it. Seeing the gun dismantled with some different things that go into them, not necessarily everything that goes into that particular one, was cool.
The optics thing though was super cool! I love seeing that type of stuff, every piece out there that's in something and just checking it out to analyze it and become familiar with it.
Seeing the different style of ammunition and the projectiles, casings and other aspects of it was also cool. I know there are a lot of different kinds of bullets that it boggles my mind. I've been to a few gun stores recently, knowing that my son is better with it now that he's a bit older and more mature, I've seen all the different types they've got out there when we check the guns out. Damn there are a lot! Lol. I thought there were just the normal ones like 9, .45, .357, .22, .308 etc. but damn there are probably 100 or more different types of common ones.
The flat panels all over the museum and store reminded me a lot of Call of Duty that's for sure lol especially watching Dalton's gaming videos of it, I totally see CoD here. I feel proud though to grow up in an area that's got this right down the street! People shoot these things all around the world and one of their flagship buildings is right here in my relative backyard. I'd love to go back here again and do some shooting, though not sure if they will give me some hell for my Smith and Wesson lol.
I plan on going back here with the little man one of these days! It's a bit of a drive that's for sure so I'm glad we went when we did but maybe I can figure out something in that area for us to also do so that I can sneak in here with him and explore some more lol. I don't know if I would drive all the way back up there just to go to the range but I wouldn't mind shooting in such a cool place even if it costs me a few bucks!

Cool thanks!
It would be very interesting to go to such a place, well, rather to learn a little about the weapons and of those historical points. These look like the ones used in the movies, very similar in all aspects.
Yeah for sure it was good to look around and see the different ones and the historical stuff related to them!
