Sandcastle Monochrome Monday
Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to share a few photos from the recent beach trip we took, and the cool sandcastle we built!
Sandcastle Monochrome Monday
As the summer weather has wound down, we've been trying to get a few things accomplished in terms of the things that we enjoy. We decided to go to the beach the other day to have one of the last hoorah's of the summer season!
The beach we went to is one we've been to in the past, but it's not my personal preference in terms of a beach. It gets really packed and the beach is a bit on the smaller side compared to the other one that's pretty large. Still though, it's enjoyable because you don't have to walk a mile to get to the bathroom lol so that's why my wife enjoys this one.
This beach is pretty popular in terms of families and kids. It's got plenty of people who come to it to spend a few hours in the sun and surf, but there isn't a lot of people who are spending time building sandcastles which is strange!
I've loved building sandcastles for a long time, it's a pretty fun time for me. I haven't been able to do it too much lately because of various scheduling conflicts where I don't make it to the beach with my wife and son but I knew I wanted to do it at this particular beach, so we packed up the good stuff!
The fun part about it as well was that my son and I spent pretty much the whole time we were there building it, and that was nice. Instead of doing what we normally do like go crab or critter hunting, seashell hunting or something we just built the castle.
As my son gets older, he's showing a lot of cool things on how he is creative. He helped me with most of the building but he spent time going around and collecting small rocks and stuff so that he could adorn the castle towers with shells and rocks. I thought that was a pretty cool touch, and added a nice unique element to it.
What I think is pretty cool as well is taking these pictures and turning them into black and white. Black and white with sand and the surf adds a different and interesting element, I think. It's got a lot of interesting colors and variations to it where in color, it would lose a little bit of that uniqueness I think.

Nice work!
Thanks dude! It's a lot of fun building these with the kiddo!
Of course! You are welcome!
Wow that is a marvel of architecture! The mortar lines between the bricks are solid and I love the augmentation on top too.
So great that you are getting son time and realizing early on it is a gift. Think a little about how you might have 16 summers with him if you are lucky, how many have passed and how few are left. Don't suffer your imagination of the future though....just keep cherishing the sand castles to the maximum as they happen.
Oh for sure man. Now that he's the age he's at now I have to remind him as well as myself that we need to slow down. There's no need to rush into getting older because it doesn't get easier. I'm trying to cherish the sandcastle building and snuggles as much as I can! One day they will stop as they should but it will be a bittersweet moment.
The jazz at the top was really cool I agree haha
Very nice black and white image display.
They are thanks!
There is a connection between your story and your bnw photos. I think I connected so much that I imagined everything you wrote in black and white :D Spending quality time with our family is wonderful, your son is very creative and taking the time to build this with him is healing in some way, That place is and you have known how to take advantage of it.
Great shots @cmplxty friend! Thanks for sharing with us :)

Thank you! I appreciate the support. It's so important for me to do these things and spend time with my wife and son. There's a lot of challenges in the world but the most important thing we can do is keep those of us around us we care about and having a good time.

That's a mighty impressive castle mate...
I've not built a sandcastle before 😂😂😂
It's something I've genuinely wanted to do..
Sandcastles are a lot of fun! It generally looks a lot better when you do it next to water but you can build them anywhere if you’ve got sand and a little bit of water!
