Oops Forgot My Hive Birthday

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to laugh that I forgot my Hive birthday again! Whoops!

Forgot My Hive Birthday

I don't tend to celebrate birthdays and those things very much. I'm not very celebratory when it comes to my own life, although I try to do a good job of celebrating my wife and sons birthdays but other than that, I don't do all out like I've seen some people do. I think that's what's good about my wife and I, we do well together in that regard lol.

With Hive though, I think last year I was on point with my Hive Birthday but this year I forgot entirely until I saw someone else post about theirs then it dawned on me that I also had one! Lol. I value the years that I've been on the blockchain for sure! I value that much more than the number of years that I've been on it, although the more years I'm on it the better it gets but that's besides the point. My Hive birthday came up this year and I think it was a pretty good one overall.

My Hive journey is much like the garden that Taraz talked about the other day, where you plant all kinds of seeds and try to give it the right conditions like watering it, feeding it nutrients and see what happens to the plants. Do they take root and sprout into something or do they whither and die off? I've certainly got some type of root sprouting going on, though not sure what direction that's going to lead to! One of the things that I've enjoyed over the time that I've been here is that I'm able to spread my little tentacles out and feed some other people that have turned out to be pretty solid users and members of the community. Granted it's absolutely not just me who has supported these people, lots in the community have but from my end, I've tried to do what I can to foster their growth and give them tips, tricks and various things that I've learned along the way.

IMG_1070 edit.jpeg

With having been on here 5 years, one of the things that I've really learned was important is the ability to grow and change our mindset and perspective is very important to be able to do. When I started out on here, I was doing a bunch of things that today, looking back, I would certainly not be doing but over time I've changed and evolved not on myself but my content, writing style and all kinds of other aspects related to the blockchain. That's some pretty cool stuff! I know that typically a workplace is where one grows mentally but here on the Hive ecosystem, there is such an awesome attitude of fostering growth and trying to help people develop into something they weren't before, if they are able and willing to undertake that type of change.

One of the things that hasn't changed the entire 5 years that I've been on here though is the caliber of people that are on here! We have certainly held onto a number of people that have been here throughout the journey I've had but at the same time, some have come and gone and they are definitely unique people themselves, they make way for another person who is equally unique and different to come along and improve my perspective and branch out into different things. Each person that I'm able to interact with brings me down another path, even for just a few minutes, where I can learn something about where they live, who they are as an individual, what their ideas are on a subject and lots of other things that are great ways to have deep and quality conversations with people.

I hope that with any luck, we will not only be able to maintain the level of people and quality people that are here on the Hive blockchain in the next 5 years, but we will be able to bring on a lot more people who are interested in taking a trip on this path that we're on here and have fun with things like Pinmapple, Leo, Splinterlands and the other big aspects of the Hive ecosystem. I think one of the things that's stuck with me since I read it was the notion from Task several months ago was that we don't need to aim for the userbase of Fakebook or the ilk of platforms like it with hundreds of millions to billions of people on it, making us like China or some other country with an incredible amount of people on it but relatively lower in the income per capita on the larger scale. We might instead be better off seeing if we can manage to end up like a country such as Monaco, where the people who are there because there aren't billions of people competing for their resources, instead they have a lower population but incredibly high, on average, income per capita. If we could land somewhere there or between I think that would be a pretty solid place to be! I think we can certainly get there with some of the potential games, tech and other things that are coming out in the coming months and years ahead.

Question is.. can we handle it from a blockchain/resource level?! I'm willing to jump on in and find out!

Happy Hive birthday my friend. Hahah
I tend to also not celebrate things in my own personal life.
I prefer to celebrate my wife's and my son's birthday than mine. hahah

I hope I can be part of your journey to thrive here on Hive, and thank you so much for your support.

Thanks man! I thought of it about a month before the day but then things went to hell in a handbasket with work so I had my attention elsewhere lol

Cheers, here’s to many more years man!
