No Due Diligence

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to talk about how frustrating it can be when people just simply don't do their due diligence.

No Due Diligence

It's not that difficult to ask in the world we live in, to do a little due diligence on things.

IMG_2045 sepia.jpg

I've spoken several times about living in a condo, and how challenging it can be. There are many potential benefits about it, such as having a lot of really close neighbors, but there are a LOT of drawbacks about it. The main drawback we have is that the people who are "in charge" are a bunch of pieces of shit, not mincing words.

Without going into too many details or stories, these fuckers think they are the shit. They are also old ass fucks, all women at that, and are dinosaurs in terms of the way the world works these days. I'm not speaking ill of women in general, but when it's several crotetchedy old bitches who are running the show and making decisions when they are in their 60's and 70's but haven't a fucking clue about anything technical or maintenance, then there are a lot of problems.

The board used to be made up of a good mixture. Carpenters, electricians and some women. It was a really healthy and good balance because one wouldn't get too much sway or ability to do something without having to compromise on something. These old pieces of shit however, are the complete opposite. What these fucks say, goes.

This also comes into a very frustrating situation where they do absolutely no due diligence on something before they come to attack if one of their similarly old hags complains about something. We've had a number of complaints and a lot of it is really stupid shit. The most recent one is a noise complaint. We have a child, they make noise. Fuck off.

The hilarious thing about it though is the claim is completely baseless. Yes my son makes noise but we are outside so much that you can't complain about kids playing outside that aren't breaking windows and shit. These bitches claimed we were making a lot of noise inside, but my wife and son are home maybe 3 hours a day these days? After that it's school, extracurricular things and shit like that. So when we got an email about excessive noise, we rightfully fired back at these idiots for specific evidence. They have none, and have not responded back, and likely won't for another several days before claiming "they got the wrong address" or some shit. Fuckers.

The frustrating part about it too is that we are staying where we are because it's the most affordable at the moment, and we are clearing as much debt as possible before we make our move. It's a good plan and we've already done a good job at clearing some unnecessary shit, but we have more to go and keeping an eye on the markets. These annoying occurrences make it difficult to spend time in situations like this, because of miserable people who have absolutely nothing better to do.

I loved this one dude, not to revel in your pissed-ness, but something about it is fun for me to read when it’s all cussy and shit. Although I can also identify with the situation and agree on how legitimately frustrating it is. We had some shit neighbors when we were in our first house in Maryland. They used to watch us through their windows whenever we’d come or go or do anything. I’d make eye contact through the cracked blinds and they’d slam shut. One time the guy came over to tell me our cat had been taking shits in his wife’s tomato garden and then basically peppering the turds with mulch…it took all my strength not to laugh. Sucky people suck man, sorry you’re stuck dealing with some - but it sounds like you’re enduring it for the right reasons so keep fighting the good fight!

Hahah yeah it felt good to let loose about these shit bags. The worst thing too about it is they REFUSE to have a meeting with the whole group of residents. You know, something that is REQUIRED in the by-laws?

Sucks that lawyers won't call us back to fight these assholes lol.

Yeah my parents had some neighbors like that. One lady next door was a legit drug dealer and got mad that my parents cats were walking through her yard. But the drugs weren’t a problem? Lol people are fucked.

By the way, I don’t know if you saw this but I would love to get your feedback! I know there’s likely some holes or issues with it, but it’s a conversation that should be had more I think!

I skimmed it a bit and I can tell you that I'm not a huge fan of downvotes... but I can also say that it looks like you're only asking for frontend changes and none of this would induce a hardfork on Hive which is good.

I really don't like the idea of just putting accounts on blast and auto-downvoting them no matter what without even looking... although there are certainly plenty of bots that deserve this exact type of treatment.

Honestly what it really sounds like you're looking for here is just better tools for scanning the blockchain and the ability to automate behavior with your own bot that has access to your posting key... which is also a good ask considering it isn't super easy to navigate the chain in this way using traditional frontends.

Awesome thanks man! I appreciate you taking a look at it. I just wanted to get it in front of people who have been around for a while to get their thoughts, positive or negative.

I think it’s more of a front end thing because I don’t know how it would be possible on the base layer, but not necessarily along the lines of automation but a way to help regulate down votes better. It sucks seeing people abuse it and then people get turned off the chain entirely.

This is what I never plan on living somewhere that has an HOA.

I hear you - LOUD AND CLEAR - LOL, nice rant. I have ranted to and with my hubby a time or two about our HOA as well. They seem to be soooo nitpicky, all of course to keep the neighborhood clean and nice looking for visitors. Huh? Visitors, what about us the owners? Anyhoo, I guess they're a necessary evil but a balanced board is essential. OTOH - I couldn't be bothered becoming a member. Who, except for retirees (= old people) have the time?

In the meantime, let's rant it off of our minds!

I despise HOA’s with a passion. They are NOT a necessary evil in my opinion because it’s the Stanley Milgram prison experiment repeated everywhere. Useless people get drunk with power and become fucking psychos. It’s such a fucking disgusting enterprise. I would love to run for the board and win to dismantle the whole fucking thing. These people are the epitome of powerhungry fools.

That's a pretty frustrating situation for sure.
Thankfully my HOA is focused on keeping the neighborhood property values up, maintaining the recreation center, and maintaining the common green areas. All things like noise and parking go to the Police, who investigate before doing anything.

I agree the you need a balance of individuals on your board to keep each other uncheck and provide experiential input, like a few moms, a a few days, a few people who build stuff, a few who finance stuff, etc
A well rounded board is good.

I hope your board gets a transfusion of some new people !

Yeah we have a lot of issues with this shitty board lol. A bunch of us are pursuing legal action against these morons. I'm hoping we can come up with a healthy balance of board members going forward!

What your board is doing is what boards should be focused on, not the petty bullshit this one is.
