Monochrome Monday Mountain River
Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I'm back with some more mountain stuff, this time a river! Are you sick of mountains yet?! LOL
Monochrome Monday Mountain River
Hopefully those that visit my blog when they do aren't sick of my recent theme these past few weeks with mountains hahaha. I do love them!
This week I have some pretty nice pictures of one of the rivers that we spent a lot of time at and have had good exposure to in the past. The Pemigawasset river in New Hampshire is definitely one of the major rivers of the area. It flows out of the White Mountains, the major mountain chain in the New England area and one of the northern pieces of the Appalachian Mountain range in the Eastern United States. It also contains the tallest mountain on the East Coast of North America, Mount Washington!
You can't see Mount Washington in this area specifically but I think it does feed some of the smaller streams and things that eventually flow out into the Pemigawasset river here. Mount Washington has two major sides to it, the front side and the back side. There are obviously more sides to it than that but these 2 sides are what people are attracted to. The front side is where the train is and the back side is where the climbing is.
In any case though, the front side is what feeds the Pemi river here. There are also numerous other 3 and 4 thousand foot mountains that contribute to the strength of the Pemi and allow it to have such a strong flow 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. This river is definitely the lifeblood of New Hampshire and Northern Massachusetts as it feeds so many tributaries, lakes, reservoirs and areas that surround it as it snakes through the mountains, leaves it and flattens out towards the southern part and eventually dumping out into the Atlantic Ocean.
Being able to hang out near the source and snap some cool photos and turn it into black and white for an interesting effect are one of the things that I certainly treasure as I think about the time we spent there. When you are in the moment, you may not think of those things unless you are able to slow down and think about it but after the fact, knowing that type of stuff leaves me in awe of the sheer force of nature and the planet. I don't know if it sounds corny or stupid but I am really glad that I'm able to take a step back mentally and learn to think of these things and the impact it has on our lives instead of focusing on the stupid shit of the day that most people spend the primary amount of their time doing. Call me old fashioned but nature is far more important than the horse shit politics of the moment!
