Monochrome Monday Buds
Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to share some nice photos from when we were out for a walk along the river the other day!
Monochrome Monday Buds
Springtime is definitely one of my favorite times of the year. Granted, there aren't really a whole lot of times of the year that I dislike in all honesty, each of them has their own unique value and special feeling to it.
Springtime has a very nice feel to it because it's the time of rebirth after a long winter of cold and death in many parts of the northern hemisphere. This has benefits for many things such as the soil, to kill things off and create layers of deadfall that then get packed down by people walking, animals and many other sources. Come springtime, things are sprouting and budding up left and right to get back to life! I think that's definitely one of the things I enjoy most, getting back to life. It's a very positive feeling!
While we were walking along the river trail, we stumbled upon these nice wild flowers growing on the side of the trail! I don't see them too often so it was very pleasant to see some stuff sprouting so early. The early flower gets the pollinators that's for sure!
What I love is the unique nature of the buds that are sprouting! The trees are such wonderful creatures, they have such incredible looking shapes and symmetry going on all over the place. It's really fascinating stuff! It also makes for really good pictures lol and I think some really cool pictures in black and white! I've been messing around with GIMP different settings for black and white and I like this one called "Desaturate" with the "Luma" setting. It changes the colors a little bit apart from what normal Desaturate does. Very interesting!
The trees are most definitely reaching and trying to sprout as strongly as they can! These early budders are great because they provide food and nutrients for so many different things like the early bees that are out, though only on the nicer days, and the various birds, insects and other things that are trying to wake up from their winter slumbers to get things kicked off again.
I love the backdrop of the flowing river behind it! I'm really enjoying this spot for a walking trail and just an overall spot to be poking around when my son and I are in the area, it's quite beautiful. We will also be packing up the fishing rods in a few days or weeks and heading on over to see if we can catch a trout or two! The fishing here is pretty good from what we've heard, so we are anxious to try it out!

GIMP's probably one of the best free open source image processing software. The interface is a bit "heavy" for me or it's probably just me who can't get used to it. GIMP has a few very powerful features though, for instance it is much stronger at running math operations over images than Photoshop ;)

Yeah? That's cool lol. The UI for GIMP is definitely pretty intense to get used to! I know when I first started to use it I was intimidated as hell but now I love it! I guess it's the techie in me that is enjoying it haha. Cool to hear that it has one up over photoshop!
One of the things I'm really enjoying are the presets for these various things. I'm going to be poking around with some of them in the coming days and weeks to see how I like it! Only took a year :D
Yes :) In particular, I had to run Fourier analysis to remove repeating patterns. Photoshop had a funny limitation of 4 MB or something like this while GIMP had no such limitation.
The UI is probably what stops me from using it regularly, and as I pay subscription for Adobe Creative Cloud, I use almost Lightroom & PS ;)
Hehehe, only one year, yeah.

I think we are close to seeing a wave of buds on the trees up here. I will have to head out for a #wednesdaywalk or 2 when that happens. Til then, I will enjoy posts like this from friends in slightly warmer climates.
You see Presearch added cool background images to the search page! Annoying at first but some nice ones the last few days. They are apparently considering blockchains for search rewards too. Hive? I will have to touch base with my buddy Colin and put in the good word!
I did see that and I was highly confused lol I use brave and was like hmm.. did brave add a background to Presearch???? But then I realized it was the Presearch team lol. Cool stuff! Would be nice to propose hive for them!
It’s funny dude, I didn’t even realize how the seasons changed as you go south. We drove down the coast through several states a few weeks back and home it’s snowing and freezing but we got to like Delaware and the trees were budding and there was pollen everywhere. It was wild stuff! Lol
