Italian Ruins Monochrome Monday

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to share a couple pictures converted into black and white from my Italy trip years ago!

Italian Ruins Monochrome Monday

One of the good things right now is that my son is finally getting over his annoying sickness lol. That means I'll be able to take him on some hikes and things in the next couple weeks and maybe do some ice skating. In the meantime though, I've got plenty of old pictures to sift through in order to come up with content for one of the posts for the day!

The trip that my wife and I took to Italy years ago was such a memorable one for the both of us. I thankfully married someone who takes thousands of pictures of everything hahaha so we've got plenty of stuff to look back at and remember! I know there is a lot to be said about enjoying the moment and we certainly did when we were there but at the same time it's also important to capture the moment when you can!

Italy is one of those countries where there are ancient ruins everywhere and it makes for some amazing cultural exploration. One of the things that annoys me about the current way we live and civilization is that we don't make many things anymore that will stand the test of time. The big cities that we live in, in 100 years of nobody living in them they will be reclaimed by nature and the metal buildings will fall apart and there will be hardly a trace of it left.

The Roman ruins though, those are still here thousands of years later! That's really saying something for how they built things to last. I have actually got a bit of a sense to try and make a brick or stone house or something that would be able to really do the job that we need it to and not have to worry about the thing falling apart. I'm sure there are going to be a lot of lame regulations and shit to try and prevent that from happening but even to build a brick building is good. I am a big fan of how these things were built by the hands of skilled men from millenia past but we are now able to visit it and awe at what they achieved and the things they dedicated their lives to.

It is so interesting walking around the ruins, thankfully we can't get into them otherwise people would likely destroy them in this day and age. There is so much to be learned here even just with one group of ruins. The amount of work and effort that went into it is incredible.

I love how the black and white versions come out for it especially though. These ruins are for sure old but when there is no color to the pictures, it makes it look even older like there was someone from the 1920's that took the pictures or something. I think it also helps focus your attention on the details of the stonework and stuff instead of just seeing the colors of the grass, trees and all that. You get to appreciate how impactful these structures are even the thousands of years later that we are living in!

What an interesting trip, I lived in Rome for two years, every place, every corner tells a story. I liked walking through Circus Massimo or the Colosseum, I felt like walking in ancient Rome.
Italians take great care of their history, of their millenary places. I hope we understand that we cannot move forward without knowing where we come from.

Benissimo! Ho habitato a Siena per due mese :D

Rome was indeed a beautiful city! I enjoy and respect the culture a lot because it preserves history instead of deletes it and tears it down. History is important and meant to serve a purpose to teach not be erased!

Black and white background is always top notch and never disappoint. This is one of the reason I love this

An interesting monochrome look at the ruins. It would be possible to give them in color for comparison.

Yeah I enjoy the black and white but you'll have to wait a few days for the color versions! I know some people put both of them but I like to confine it to just the black and white here!
