Today I wanted to celebrate something I've been looking forward to for a while: the first good snowstorm!

First Snowy Walk

Snow has been something I've enjoyed for as long as I can remember, really. I get to do all kinds of fun stuff in the snow and it makes it really special when I get to share some of those same joys and love with my son.

The last good snowstorm we got was a few years ago, largely what we've had last year and so far this year was a really mild winter and that was annoying! It's winter, we need some snow! :D Mother nature pulled through for me on this one for sure, we got over a foot of glorious snow!

We've been holed up in the house for weeks on end with the never-ending bouts of sickness that we've been plagued with. It's been a hell of a time that's for sure but we hopefully are nearing the end of it and turning over a good leaf. I wonder if the snow was a sign of that good fortune! Lol. It certainly would be a nice thing to have been!

We didn't get to go sledding or any of the fun snow sport activities but we did do some shoveling and walking around in it which was really nice and enjoyable to get out, stretch our legs and enjoy some of the beauty that occurs with freshly fallen snow. The crazy thing about this one is that it started out as really heavy, wet snow and this caused quite a bit of havoc with the trees you see above. They were bent completely over! Three gigantic trees ended up falling but thankfully we didn't lose power, that would have made it quite difficult to enjoy this all lol

This picture was cool, I was able to catch the snow as it was falling off the trees and vines in the picture below as the wind gave a good gust. It was like fog almost, pretty wild! I've been in snowy conditions where you couldn't see 5 feet in front of you the wind and snow was blowing so hard and so thick. That was definitely one of my most fond memories of snow, thankfully because we were snowboarding on top of a mountain and not somewhere incredibly dangerous or anything. Definitely takes perspective to appreciate that one lol.

The nice thing was just taking a little stroll around the area we are at, checking out the sights and seeing how the snow was piling up and making unique looking structures all over the place. It was absolutely mentally refreshing let me tell you! I've been holed up for weeks, and my son has been for longer. Looking forward to when this saga is over that's for sure lol

What I absolutely love to see are rivers and brooks that are chock full of snow and tree branches hanging down! If there was one type of picture that I would say is my favorite of all time to take, it's that. It combines the absolute beauty of snow, with the additional love that I have for rivers and running water and combines them! I think it's such a cool and nice thing to see with the fluffy white puffs all over the place, pure white against the black backdrop of the dark water. Pretty wild stuff! I took these pictures on my phone which is certainly a great phone but I kind of wish I was able to take my DSLR camera and see how much different the pictures would have come out.

We can't change the past though, so I can just appreciate the beauty that I was able to capture and the little stroll around the area I was able to take and share with my friends here for a nice Wednesday Walk!
