Farms Everywhere
Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to laugh a little bit about a place we always drove past but never stopped in!
Farms Everywhere
The great things about taking a step back and spending far more time outside of the cities than inside them, is that you see all kinds of things around that you might not have otherwise have seen, if you spent all your time in those giant cesspools called cities!
The little man and I the other day were at the grocery store and when we were leaving and returning our shopping cart, we saw that someone accidentally left a big bag of catfood in the bottom of the carriage. I felt bad for the person who left it there because I've done that and it's annoying but I knew that the cat food was not going to be thought of until they got home and bringing it back into the store wasn't going to do anything good except put it back on the shelf to be sold again.
So what we ended up doing is bringing the cat food to the farm here! This farm is also an animal shelter and they take in all kinds of animals, some of them you can see here. People surrender their animals to farms and shelters all the time because they can't care for them for one reason or another. Since we were at the farm and dropped the food off at the place where the animals are kept, we figured it would be nice to go around and see the different animals they've got. We've driven by this place countless times for one reason or another with the areas that we are going but we didn't stop in until today!
The place was actually a lot bigger than I thought it was when we would drive by it, which was great! It's always nice to see large farms because that land is focused for the animals and it's not going to be used to develop for housing or any other crap that so much land is being used for right now.
They had quite a bit of feathered friends here at this farm! Lol. There were ducks, quail, chickens and roosters everywhere! I wasn't able to get a picture of the quail sadly because they were skittish and went into their housing area.
The ducks were having a grand old time with each other lol I can only assume that they kept these two groups of ducks separate because perhaps one is male and one is female, so they don't need them making more ducklings! The white ones, seemingly male, were going nuts against the cage trying to get to the ones on the left which I can assume were the females. They were making all kinds of noise and it was pretty funny to listen to!
The chickens and roosters though were what attracted us over to this area. The roosters were making all kinds of noise and doing cocka-doodle-doo every few seconds lol. The brown one you can see in the picture below was the source of all the commotion! He was yapping every few seconds and listening to that, I can understand why someone I knew that had chickens and a rooster, turned the rooster into dinner one night because of all the commotion they make lol.
There only seemed to be roosters in this area here, I wasn't sure where the chickens were but there were a few inner parts of the building that had a bunch of other feathered friends hanging out inside. The roosters were the ones who were on the outside, protecting the ladies seemingly! Don't mess with a cock when his mommas are around! LOL
The place also had some horses and goats! Those were in the middle of the farm but separated by all kinds of fences and yards so sadly we couldn't get over to them to see them or say hi. I think the horses in this farm were surrenders, I know that there are a lot of people who own horses around here and sadly many of them get surrendered because they are quite expensive to keep and manage! I was glad to see the horses from a distance though, we don't see them too often and I enjoy when we do get a glimpse at them.

Hi, there! I think it was a great decision to take the food to that farm animal shelter. And I'm sure your little man had a great time seeing all those animals.
Thanks it was great indeed! We learned they are a no kill shelter so that's good! Gotta keep the kitties fed while they wait to get adopted out! Seeing the poultry around was an added bonus!
