Cedar Trees by the Seaside

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to switch it up a little bit with a beautiful walk we took along the ocean!

Cedar Trees by the Seaside

It's the time of year, where we are trying to get in the last-minute things that we want to do. One of them is visiting the ocean a few more times before it gets cold as fuck!

We needed to get a few things from the area recently, so we decided that we should just make a day out of it and go to the beach. The beach is definitely my wife's favorite place, as it's where she gets the most enjoyment and peace. I don't mind because I really enjoy the beach, especially the beautiful views that we get when we are there!

This trail is one that's a little bit unique. It's thankfully well preserved, as a lot of them are, but this one is up on a cliffside that overlooks the ocean. A lot of the parts of this area are quite rocky which is nice, so it gives us a really enjoyable view and place to go for some good walks. This one is one of the most accessible walks though which is really nice. What my son and I really like about it as well is that it's loaded with beautiful cedar trees!

The cedar trees are definitely something I have fond memories of, as some of the other beaches around have them near the water. I don't really know what the deal is with cedar trees and being near the ocean. I guess they like the salt air or something, but it has always been something I've associated with the beach instead of the mountains!

The cedar trees here are really well taken care of. They are all individually marked so that they can make sure to preserve them as best they can. That means that if someone messes with one of the trees in an intentional way, I bet they would get fined by the land management or historical society or something. I find that good in some ways, but bad in others. I don't like government intervention in things, but sometimes it's what needs to happen in order to make sure that people aren't pieces of shit and ruin something out of spite like this. I've seen too many examples of people being assholes just to be assholes.

With the cedar trees though, they are fucking huge! lol. You can see here that the tree is quite extensively growing to the left but it originates on the right. I think that's really cool as it's obvious when you look at it, the cedar roots and tree itself are holding up parts of the cliff here which is really cool. Without the cedar and it's roots, there wouldn't be a spot for us to walk!

I think this was one of my favorite photos of the day. It was a little random, but at the same time an awesome photo. I love the little "window" look of it! It has a little bit of a pirate feel to it as well, where we are on one side of the bay hiding in the trees and trying to plot the siege of the rich peoples houses on the other side there! ARRRRRR ☠️

It was certainly an enjoyable day because this time we were here, it was actually warm. The last time we were here it was fucking COLD lol. It wasn't as enjoyable as we got to be here! The trail here is pretty long, I would say about a mile or so, and wraps right around the cliff to the left and around some corners. The little man was enjoying it because it's been a few months since we've been to the beach, so we were definitely due for a trip. With the weather getting colder progressively, we are going to have to sneak in another beach trip or two as we can before it gets to the near-freezing temps!

Those are some pretty impressive cedar trees. I used to have one next to my front porch at my old house. I didn't think much of it at the time, but it was pretty cool. I forgot just how rocky the coast can be in that part of the country.

Thanks dude, yeah I love cedar trees. I had a few I remembered as a kid but they were never near the house, they were down by the beach.

How rocky it is may be one of my favorite qualities about it! Perhaps because that's what I'm used to, but I find the rocky shoreline a lot more interesting than the white sandy beaches.

We have sandy beaches on the west side of the state and then the east coast along Lake Huron is a bit more rocky with some exceptions in there.

The beach is your wife's favorite place. Your photography shows places that they are surrounded by a lot of rocks. However, it is very good to people near the sea. Good luck for you.
