Against The Flow
Hi fellow Ranters,
Today I wanted to talk about how we get used to something, and it's challenging to get away from that!
Against The Flow
I've really had a bit of a rut in terms of getting time to write.
I've been in a weird bit of a rut when it comes to writing. I don't feel that I can't write, but I just have a fucking lot to do lol.
It's a conflagration of a few different issues. Really busy time at work, and we are also doing a lot of things ourselves at home. I have to get to a better place though, because my catharsis is taking a hit and that's not cool!
I think one of the things that's affecting me in terms of this seeming rut is that I've been writing most of my stuff in the morning instead of what I was doing for a really long time, and doing it in the evening. This has been a good change but at the same time, it's been a difficult one. In the mornings I've got a lot more to do per day, and I try to cram in a few things, plus try to finish it off with some writing. Some days it just doesn't work out the way I want it to, damn it hahaha.
I think that's okay and one of the things that we have to deal with as we get older. We have more and more things to do, especially those of us with families. We tend to find balances when we can. For me, the balance is definitely a challenge at the moment but the potentially good thing is I don't really have the hobbies I used to. That sounds like a really horrible thing at the end of the day.. but it does give me more time for my Hive hobby? I don't know how to feel about that one hahahaha.
It's certainly about the opportunity cost. I am writing this one at night, because I know I've been slacking and need to get in a few more over the next few days to catch up. I've got lots of pictures and things to get sorted out and posted, so I am good on that front. We always need more time in a day to do things, right?
I know we've all heard that medieval people had more free time, but I think that's both bullshit as well as misleading. They may have had more "leisure" time in some sense, but they also had to be scared of getting diarrhea from bad food, water or some other shit. These things aren't really things most people have to worry about, and certainly not the ones that have good access to technology and medical care.
While it feels good to write a post in the evening the way I used to, I am definitely going to try and make some adaptations in the coming days and weeks to fluctuate between morning and evening writing. I tend to have a little more inspiration at the end of the day. It's likely because I don't have a day of work looming in front of me. I enjoy the work I do, but it does take a lot out of me so I have to focus really well.
What about you, have you been adapting your writing habits over the past few weeks? Let me know in the comments!

The changed in the rhythm is not something that is so easy to handle, but I believe you can do it my friend.
haha balancing real life as a person with family and kids with your online time will never be easy, plus the real work. that is really something, not an excuse, but the real challenge is there, but you have doing great man. Always been.
Cheers thanks my friend! It's never a dull moment but that's the important thing - there's always going to be something going on if you are a caring person with a family. We just have to balance the time appropriately as much as we can.
Thanks for stopping by man!
Hmm for me, it was unexpected because there was just so much stuff going on lately that took some of my time away from Hive. From following the US elections to all the crazy movements in the financial and crypto markets. Anyway, the festive holidays is not too far away, so perhaps I will have more time then. Hehe.
All the time!
Although, in all honesty, I don't think I can call them habits, I change too often. It's just the nature of the creative beast... ;<)
Whatever's the case, being around nature is always a healthy thing! Love your pictures!
