What If The Universe Brought us To Existence To Understand Itself ?
Man by nature appears to be a very curious creature, this appears to be defining feature of man ever since he came into existence. In fact, even as you are reading a line of this article, you are curious to know what the next line says, in essence, we are all very curious creatures. Evolution seems to have helped us evolve the necessary biological tools needed for such ability and if not for this feature we wouldn't be having the kind of society we have today. Even to this day, the drive (curiosity) still remains and may continue to remain but...........to what end ?
Would the universe end when we have established all the knowledge that there is ?
Maybe, maybe not. We aren't necessarily interested in the eventual fate of the universe but rather the purpose of our curiosity in the first place. It may seem like our curiosity is strictly to understand the universe for ourselves but what if there's more to it than meets the eye.
Questions regarding the existence of man has long been raised since antiquity, probably as old as man itself and it may have triggered what we now know as the concept of "God". Hold on......do you notice something?
We are also curious about ourselves, how interesting. 😎
As time went by, the question began to evolve and take different forms, especially as our knowledge began to expand. Questions such as,
What's the purpose of our existence ? - especially we humans
Why does life exist ?
Why does intelligent beings exist ?
Why are we conscious ?
Why does our planet seem to be the only one with life ?
Why is our universe the way it is ?
Are there other universes (multiverse) ?
Why does the universe exist ?
Why does anything even exist ?
Interestingly, the last question is a more superior question, the most difficult to answer (if the answer actually exists) and for now appears to be a fundamental question of metaphysics (in philosophy). In the actual fact, none of the above questions have definitive answers, there are many proposed answers but there seems to be no way of telling which is/are correct. The above questions have other questions under them of which answers to some are being pursued in the realm of science. Take for example the question of "why are we conscious?"
It used to be in the realm of philosophy until quantum mechanics came in and now has become a scientific problem, to answer it we need to tackle questions of what it is and how it arises. Also we have the question of intelligence of which AI (artificial intelligence) is helping us to understand but it doesn't stop there. AI could also help us understand consciousness, particularly when you look at AGI (artificial general intelligence) - where it's able to perform virtually everything that our brains does. Let's for a moment stop to reflect on this.
First of all, are we really the ones asking those questions or is the universe doing the asking through us ?
Remember we are part of the universe.
Secondly, to be able to fully understand these aspects of ourselves (consciousness and intelligence) we aren't really relying on ourselves but rather we now seem to be relying on something we are creating almost from scratch - the AI. This isn't surprising considering the fact that we didn't bring ourselves into existence and therefore it's difficult to tell the exact mechanisms responsible for our existence, especially the first form of life that preceded us. So, following this line of thinking, could the universe have brought us to understand itself ?
For the universe to have meaning, there has to be observers, of which we are but we are also part of the universe. This alone could help us understand why we have this constant drive of trying to know more about our universe and also raising questions that seem to be beyond us. In fact, this could answer some, if not most of the questions raised previously. One consequence of this line of thinking is that it may be a regressive process. That is, it may not be the universe trying to understand itself per se but rather some alien beings trying to understand their own reality/universe but with the help of our own universe of which they actually created, eventually we would create ours - just like we are doing with computers, and the beings in the ones we created would also do the same and so does it continue ad infinitum, all in the name of trying to understand ourselves. 😂
Unless we ourselves are aliens - not belonging to this universe, can we dismiss the idea of the universe creating us to understand itself. But how would we be able to tell if we're actually aliens, all evidences seems to be pointing the other way - we originated from this universe. Well, this is not to say what we have established here is the actual case, we are just simply exploring other interesting possibilities in the sea of infinite possibilities. Our reality is indeed a very mysterious place but it shouldn't stop us from driving, remember we have that drive. 😉 😂
Alright guys, I think this where we part ways....for now, till we meet again - next month.
Happy December in advance. ✨🥳🥳🥳🥳✨

A lot of "what if?". I will rather we talk about what "will", since we are likely not to go back through timetravelling
