Oh Farm Day
Happy Sunday hivans. How have you all been? I believe all has been well with you all. It's been a while here and all I can say is that things happen a lot. Well, it's a good Sunday I had and my entire time was spent on the farm with my bosses.
Sometime last year, I once posted about a farm I worked on which belonged to one of bosses and how we went to harvest his crops doing all the processing entailed from detachment to detusking.
This year we planted some maize crop and oryza sativa (rice) but we only worked on maize field today. We made some fertilizer application (applying Npk 20:10:10). It was a whole lot of work for us even though we employed some farm laborers, we had to join them in the application to make the work faster. I have experience of how the fertilizer is added so it wasn't strange to me at all.
One of the things I love most is farming and it's created a space for more understanding of plants and it helps academically as well. Farming is one of the pillars of an economy and it's a good source of revenue as well. The passion to farm keeps burning in my heart and I love the fact that I can learn more before I finally start my own farm.
The maize crops are few weeks old and they are doing well even before the fertilizer application we did today. My only concern was the distance to the farm from where we live, it's almost a two hour journey. It can't be visited daily so we employed a watcher to prevent unwanted circumstances.
This is me applying Npk to the roots and having my special moment. It's a great Sunday to remember. It's a Sunday worth it............Happy Sunday guys !!!
Thanks for viewing my blog
That sure looks like a large field to work on. Hope things are going well for the crop.
