Hello Everyone,

Welcome to Week 8 of our #SPILLTHEBEANS Contest. The past weeks have been excellent, and last week we presented a vague blog prompt and you all created amazing stories. Well done all!
Thank you to everyone who has participated so far, and we invite those of you who might be thinking about it to join in.

All the entries showed creativity and originality which made it a great contest! Some stories stood out, but these final two had elements that made them a beautiful read.

See this week's topic below, with a countdown timer that needs to be observed. The entry deadline for posts ends on Wednesday, with the countdown timer at the top and the bottom of this post, guiding you to the cut-off time.

How do I qualify for entry and what are the guidelines to follow?

Answer:
  • Post to Cinnamon Cup Coffee Community
  • Use #spillthebeans as the first tag
  • Vote for this post
  • Write ONLY on the topic presented
  • No less than 250 words and no more than 1000 words MAX!
  • English Words ONLY
  • Post within the Countdown Timer. (No late entries)
  • Photos must be of coffee, or coffee shop setting.
  • Post title MUST be the topic presented each week.

TOPIC: "The Fight for Coffee"

Note This week you have the freedom to come up with your own short unique story titles, or you can use the topic presented. Therefore you will only qualify for the contest if #spillthebeans is your first tag, and if your story does not cover the relevant topic presented, your post will be muted for fairness to other competitors.

A new political leader has taken control of your country and it's starting to feel like a dictatorship. In his latest speech, the politician announced that coffee is now banned and will be considered contraband from here on out. You are unwilling to give up coffee. Tell us a story about the situation. Some ideas might include: A) defying the dictatorship and leading the coffee resistance. B) hiding coffee products in your home when the military comes to confiscate them. C) Creating counter-propaganda against the coffee restriction (this could include self-made artwork) D) any other scenario of your choosing that relates to the situation.

Remember, it's a "Creative Writing Contest" - Be imaginative and original. Cover all the elements that make a good story.

1. Can I Enter?

Answer:

Yes, you can! One entry per person.

Everyone is free to post regular coffee posts in the community at any time. However, if there's a post using the #spillthebeans tag, that is NOT a response to the question, the post will be muted without notice.

N.B. #Spillthebeans entries will not be included in the selection of weekly curated content for #THEGRIND

2. Why should I participate and what will I gain?

Answer:
  • Improve your writing skills
  • Be an active community member
  • Engage with community members and other authors across Hive.
  • A chance to be creative
  • A chance that your post might be curated for upvotes
  • Best post entry would receive beneficiary rewards from the following week's contest announcement post rewards.

3. How do I win or what criteria are you looking for?

Answer:
  • Clarity and readability
  • Creativity of the story
  • Originality and personality in the story
  • Quality of photos
  • Presentation of your post
  • Engagement on your post and other authors' posts within the community

4. How do I know if I am a winner?

Answer:
  • There will only be ONE WINNER
  • If you are that lucky person, you will receive a banner on your post entry on Monday, notifying you that you won the contest.
  • Your post will be highlighted in the topic announcement post, the following week.
  • You will receive a 20% beneficiary reward from the new post topic announcement post the following week.
  • Your post would have already been upvoted by the community team, commented on by the community team, and curated and upvoted.

Nice work everyone and good luck in the next challenge and remember to read all of the rules before submitting, especially if you are new to the contest 👍

A hint of what we are looking for in the winner are: uniqueness and creativity, an interesting story begining, middle and end and a well written story that is easy to read. Sometimes it helps to have someone (or several people) proof read your story to catch mistakes, grammar issues and/or to give critical feedback so that you can make changes before submitting.

hiya, no problem... I started a post but then realised I wouldn't finish in time... If I finish the write can I post it in the community and simply leave off the contest tag? or is it best to wait for next week's contest? 🤗 !LUV

Hey, definitely leave off the contest tag. You seem to have connected with that topic, so in this case, make one of your tags coffee-fiction, and you could just write that your post was inspired by the recent contest question.
Otherwise, look out for future topics too:)
