Hello Everyone,

Welcome to Week 6 of our #SPILLTHEBEANS Contest. The past weeks have been excellent, and last week we got creative in a quest for finding the sacred tea or coffee and the stories of tales by an old man.
Well done all!
Thank you to everyone who has participated so far, and we invite those of you who might be thinking about it to join in.

All the entries showed creativity and originality which made it a great contest! Some stories stood out, but these final two had elements that made them a beautiful read.

See this week's topic below, with a countdown timer that needs to be observed. The entry deadline for posts ends on Wednesday, with the countdown timer at the top and the bottom of this post, guiding you to the cut-off time.

How do I qualify for entry and what are the guidelines to follow?

Answer:

  • Write ONLY on the topic presented

TOPIC: "The Coffee Shop Scene"

Choose a scenario (ex. 1, 2, or 3) and a perspective (ex. Person A or Person B) and write a short story about the situation from one of the person's perspectives.

Scenario 1: It's Person A's first time in a coffee shop and nothing on the menu looks familiar to them so they don't know what to order. They turn to Person B standing next to them in line and ask them what they should order. Person B believes that Person A is hitting on them.

Scenario 2: Person A is in a coffee shop in a foreign country and does not speak the language. They know what they want to order and have practiced meticulously exactly what to say to make the order. They get to the counter and say what they practiced. Person B is on the other side of the counter and does not understand what Person A is saying. Person A repeats the phrase twice more but Person B still does not understand.

Scenario 3: Person A is on a 2nd date with Person B and they like this person. Person B chooses the location of the date and brings Person A to a cat Cafe. Person A is allergic to cats.

1. Can I Enter?

Answer:

Yes, you can! One entry per person.

Everyone is free to post regular coffee posts in the community at any time. However, if there's a post using the #spillthebeans tag, that is NOT a response to the question, the post will be muted without notice.

N.B. #Spillthebeans entries will not be included in the selection of weekly curated content for #THEGRIND

2. Why should I participate and what will I gain?

Answer:
  • Improve your writing skills
  • Be an active community member
  • Engage with community members and other authors across Hive.
  • A chance to be creative
  • A chance that your post might be curated for upvotes
  • Best post entry would receive beneficiary rewards from the following week's contest announcement post rewards.

3. How do I win or what criteria are you looking for?

Answer:
  • Clarity and readability
  • Creativity of the story
  • Originality and personality in the story
  • Quality of photos
  • Presentation of your post
  • Engagement on your post and other authors' posts within the community

4. How do I know if I am a winner?

Answer:
  • There will only be ONE WINNER
  • If you are that lucky person, you will receive a banner on your post entry on Monday, notifying you that you won the contest.
  • Your post will be highlighted in the topic announcement post, the following week.
  • You will receive a 20% beneficiary reward from the new post topic announcement post the following week.
  • Your post would have already been upvoted by the community team, commented on by the community team, and curated and upvoted.

WOW!

I found out about the news last night when the kind @wendyth16 was the first to comment to congratulate me, but I was too sleepy to answer her and read the content of the challenges for this week.

I am very happy, this kind of initiative has helped me to improve my writing and of course, the suggestions and teachings of the beautiful @millycf1976 and the good friend @leaky20 have been a fundamental part of that improvement. Thank you very much for allowing me to be in this beautiful community.

My congratulations to all those who participated, they were magnificent stories in which I was excited and had fun. It has been a satisfying week.

I have my eye on one of this week's choices, now I'm going to recreate the scene in my mind and then put it into letters. Let's go all out!
