Reconnecting with Nature
Hello, Hiver friends!
Since we got back from out-of-town trips, we tried our best to get back to our old daily routine before we went on vacation, and that includes walking early in the morning. We admit to slacking off on exercise during vacation, and feasting and overeating didn't help either. Since we got back, we couldn't help but notice how unhealthy we had become these past few months, and our annual physical exam results just confirmed it. It was hard to admit, but our bodies are aging. Overweight, fatty liver, high cholesterol and few more—the only advice the doctor gave aside from watching what we eat is to stay active!
Finding the motivation to start exercising again and get in shape is the most challenging aspect of the process. What is even harder is being consistent. I made an effort to add something interesting to my daily walk by searching my surroundings for eye-catching subjects, such as wild flowers, misty leaves, or stunning blooms of flowers that are at their peak as the sun comes up.
I couldn't help but smile while browsing my gallery on my way home after my early morning walk. I felt that I had found myself again. I felt like I did something worthwhile, though it was just a simple activity like walking. I felt recharged and alive.
Feeling drained and tired lately? Maybe you just need to go out, do some walking, appreciate your surroundings, sit in the grass, feel the leaves, admire the flowers, and reconnect with nature. I just realized you don't need to travel far and spend so much to do so.
