A nostalgic musical escape: @ellacentric’s soulful rendition of a 2000s classic
It's a new week as usual, and the VIBES community has come up with an intriguing theme revolving around the 2000s. Music from this era was quite unique—I mean, the style, the concept, and the music videos were just a breath of fresh air.
Week 31 is another week to keep our eyes glued to our screens, and what better way is there to enjoy performances than with a popcorn sitting beside us—sorry, I meant inside our mouths. If you don't do this, you're not serious. Just kidding, lol.
Well, just as always, I watched performances, scrolling through various entries, observing the artists and their style. Each one brought something different, and I guess that's why we all have different faces, different people, different styles.
There was an entry that was so soothing—it was sung by @ellacentric.
Ever listened to a song and your heart instantly resonates with it? It's exactly what happened as I watched this artist raise the bar. No excessive energy, no stress, no struggle—just a nice, seamless, beautifully coordinated voice permeating the chambers of my heart.
She made me feel relaxed; it was as though she owned the song, adding her own touch to it—this is what we call originality. I mean, she was singing someone else's song, but she was herself—not trying to copy or duplicate the entire personality of the original artist's song like most vocalists do these days.
Let's deviate from originality and style of music. Let's talk about the song choice. Now, finding a song that suits and rhymes with your style and voice is a whole different game—one that most artists find difficult. I feel @ellacentric chose the right song, a nostalgic one at that. R. Kelly's prime was in the early 2000s, and bringing this piece back to our ears is really amazing. I felt some moments in the past, wished I could turn back the hands of time and rewrite certain moments, but I guess it's nothing but a fantasy. You felt the same way, didn't you?
Singing is about creating moments—unforgettable ones—and she did just that. The voice, expressions, song choice, and many more elements made this so personal to me. When I listened to it, I couldn't help but write a brief review about it.
What are your thoughts? Let me in on them.
It's the VIBES Web3 music competition, and it's the ending of Week 31. Keep your eyes open and hands ready to vote!
