What If! [Original Poem]

What If!

What if
the mind a soldier bold,
A silent sentinel, grim and cold?
Standing alone
at the melancholy tower;
Guarding the heart
through each longer hour.
Compose questions the stars
should know the answers.

What if
laugh where the battle's cry,
Echoing the truths
that the soul can't deny!
Absurdity masks the pain,
For what is lost
finds wisdom's gain!
And loneliness!
acts like the aching flame—
binds and frees us,
Hope and failure all the same.*

What if
failure not a curse.
Resurrected subtle verse
from fate’s eternal purse!
A whisper silent soft
has a cruel jest,
Teach amongst the brave
to fight and outlast the rest!
Somber ambition rises,
like a neverending steely lance,
and stand still at failure's glance.*
