Religion is the search for God. Man has been in this search since the fall. The fall of man cut him from God. The entrance of sin into the world by the disobedience of man brought separation between man and God. From that time man has been searching for God. He could not find him and this search brought us all the various religions in the world.

Everything we do in an attempt to seek God is termed religion. It is the way we worship, serve and do our religious activities. Many of these religions are not true. The Bible describes to us how a true religion should be.

James 1:26 (KJV) If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

Anyone who practices religion without controlling his or tongue is professing a false religion. When someone who says is religious talks anyhow, that person’s religion is false. If we are going to practice the true religion, we must have control over our tongue. We must term our tongue. We must know what we say and what we should not say.

1 Timothy 3:15 (KJV) But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

There is a religion which is the true religion. That is the religion practiced in the church of God. The church of God is the only true way of religion. In the church of God, there is a way members conduct themselves. There are rules which guide our behavior in the church. The doctrines that Jesus Christ gave to us are the rules that governs our religious activities in the church of God

John 4:23-24 (KJV) But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

In the church of God we are to worship God in spirit and in truth. We should not just do superficial worship; we must worship our God in spirit and in truth.

Romans 1:23 (KJV) And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

The God which we worship in the true religion is not an animal. He is not in the form of any creature. He is the one who created everything. So, when men make images and begin to worship them, those images are false. Our God is not an animal or any of the objects he created.

Romans 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
