This is my response to the #memoirmonday prompt of week 33.
The memoirmonday initiative is prompted by @ericvancewalton. The link to this week prompt is here. You can learn more about the prompt from the introduction post here
I have had several pictures in my life. Taking pictures can be fun. Whenever we see ourselves in occasions and ceremonies, or when we are adorned in lovely apparel of our choice, we usually think of having a photo memory. This practice has made us always have a lot of new pictures coming into our gallery.
The several pictures we have usually remind us of one memory or the other. They bring to mind some sweet moments we might have forgotten easily. Those memories stir emotional joy or other kinds of feelings in our lives. Pictures speak really louder to our souls. They remind us of great moments.
In my life, I have had pictures I have taken by virtue of the event I attended or to keep memory of one event in my life or the other. I have pictures I have taken with people in order to keep their memories alive in my life. I have those I took when I was in school. Also, I have those pictures I took when I traveled to places that were my first time visiting. For several reasons, I have different kinds of pictures in my gallery.
The picture I am sharing here as my favorite is important to me based on its significance to me. This picture tells me that I can actually become who I hope to be. It also makes me believe in myself. The importance of this picture is more than what words can describe.
I grew up in my early life being threatened that I might not have a meaningful life. This happened because I didn't grow up under the direct parenting of my biological parents. I grew up under foster parenting. The mother who raised me was not my biological mother.
Growing from such a background, attending school and possibly having a lucrative job was not feasible. But through the help of God, I got through school and took myself through a skill learning exercise that gave me a very profitable career. My professional career is the production of leather bags for souvenirs, school bags, lunch bags, hand bags, etc.
In this profession, God has blessed and favoured me. I train several young people in the profession. The picture I shared is that of myself and one of my apprentices who just graduated from the training then.
So, why this picture is of great importance to me because it makes me feel fulfilled to be a person who could raise others. It makes me happy to realize that I have a profitable career.
