Umbrella Street (ENG/GER)
@annasdiary with me in Istanbul
Today, I'm sharing some pictures that I took of my girlfriend. We were in Istanbul near Taksim. I think these umbrella arrangements in the streets or cities are no longer that unique or special. However, there was this special flair here because it was in a street with many restaurants. You can imagine that while we were taking photos, a few shop owners approached us to see if we wanted to eat there. Since we had already eaten beforehand, we politely declined. I especially like the flair here, with the street being quite dark, and the umbrellas still catching a bit of sunlight. The pictures could have been a bit better if, instead of a wall in the background or the distant scenery, you could see more of the city. That way, there would have been a little eyecatcher rather than just the distant, indistinct background. But overall, I really like the pictures. Especially because my girlfriend came into focus quite well.
The pictures were taken with the iPhone and my Sony camera, with most of them being taken with the iPhone. I find it incredibly interesting how strong and significant the development of cameras in phones has become. Even in poor lighting conditions, the background practically calculates how the hand moves so that the pictures are still sharp, and at the same time, the depths are captured very well even in high-contrast shots. This is also the reason why I now photograph a lot with the 85 mm lens on my Sony because I can already cover many focal lengths with my iPhone. It no longer makes 100 percent sense for me to carry the 35 mm lens around with me. Although I can open it quite wide with an aperture of 1.4 and achieve cool effects, I only really use it when I have planned shots. For just carrying it around, the resolution of my iPhone is actually enough for me.
