Are Activists Who inconvenience the general public justified?? | Ecotrain Qotw
It's sad to see how far we've come in this world. We were all living our best lives thinking how greatly these advancement in technology has changed our lives. It was really fun while it lasted because as beautiful as it was for us the human race to advance, it brought with it a decline on the environment.
It then went ahead to pass us as selfish and greedy cunts humans who destroy everything that paths cross. As harsh as that sounds it's the reality we're living. Those beautiful sky scrapper buildings, beautiful cars and civilized structures has led to felling of trees, emission of carbon and destruction of natural habitat. The question is what's the way forward?
Should we all go out to protest?
I've never been part of a protest but I've witnessed one in my time and it was a grave one. The 20th October 2020 witnessed youths murdered in cold blood by the Nigerian government and I must say that after that event, it's normal to shy away from protests.
Leaving Nigeria aside they're a lot of human right activists who take to the streets to protest and request for a change, some want the preserving of wildlife, others want society to accept them the way they are and some want even distribution of income and lesser outrageous things, the list is endless.
Whatever the case may be, street protests have become a necessary part of our everyday lives. Even though it's not been pretty effective in some parts of the world, it surely has helped places like Egypt dethrone governments and bring about change even if some people died in the process or got arrested.
Is it justifiable to inconvenience the general public in the name of Activism and Protests?
They're always different ways to look at it but if it results in hindrances and more hardship I believe it isn't justifiable. But then if it doesn't cause any harm to any one, it could be to a certain degree justifiable.
Just imagine waking up in the morning after having a short night and very little rest to go to work. Only to face a blockage by a group of activist asking for better government decisions so that the ozone layer would be salvageable. Of course you'll get pissed off and you'll never get the message because you're angry and annoyed and whatever.
It's tiring and it could surely be a pain in the ass but then I guess most times being a pain in the ass is the only way to pass across a message to earthlings. It's stupid to see that we don't understand the gravity of the decisions we've made. The world as we know it is changing and it's not changing for the better. The industrial revolution couldn't have been helped but now that we're wiser, we should make wiser decisions.
I think we're all responsible and contributing every day to climate change in our own little way. Damn, we should all be activist against this ordeal but then we're all not that educated enough. As I write this I know they're people burning bushes, felling trees and driving their luxurious cars around, it wouldn't end.
We need to get the word out there, and do it fast. I know we're all going to die, and it surely might not come from climate change but then who knows what this earth might be like in centuries to come. We might be long gone but those generations would suffer for something they had no hand in.
There's no need to indulge in violent protests, destroying properties and disrupting people lives. All that leaves room for political nuisance and the message surely wouldn't be passed across. What is needed is awareness, and a lot of that would go a long way.
Awareness enough to know that you don't have to be a farmer to plant trees. Awareness through songs, social media platforms, through the news media, awareness through school teachings so that the next generation would be wiser. If the individuals are wiser they'll be room for wiser political decision making and also scientific advancements.
It's still a long ride, oil and gas control almost everything and until we look for replacements we'll have to do the little we can, even if it involves holding out posters reading "we're all going to die!" and shouting at the top of our lungs as peacefully as peaceful can be.

Yes, there’s all kinds of activism, but I agree that doing something constructive gets better results than inconveniencing people. We’re facing serious issues left and right so it’s logical that we’ll see more people resorting to stronger methods of protest whether we like it or not. Thanks for posting in the EcoTrain community

Great one here.
We all need a planet to call home not an oven for baking bread and cakes.
Tree planting is one way out of this mess.
And to some extent, those activist who protest against the leakage in the ozone layer are justified for their actions.
